Location, Climate

Istanbul is the most populated and progressive city in Turkey that is situated along Bosphorus, which is a strait that lies between Marmara Sea and Black Sea. Istanbul links Asia and Europe making it the only city that bridges two continents in the world. The weather in Istanbul is moderate to cold giving warm summers and snowy winters. Brief History

The history of Istanbul dates as far as 330 when it first served as an outpost for the Roman Empire. In 395, this city was reigned by the Byzantine Empire and later on by the Latin Empire and Ottoman Empire. In 1453, Ottoman Sultan Mehmed II finally conquered Istanbul and thus ending the Middle Ages.

Istanbul hosts numerous music festivals yearly and most of them are held during summer including the Istanbul International Music Festival held every months of June to July and features some of the greatest musicians from all over the world. If you love jazz, then make sure to catch the Istanbul International Jazz Festival held in July and showcases the best jazz performances. Istanbul boasts of its magnificent architecture as seen from its palaces, mosques and churches such as the Blue Mosque, Suleymaniye Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, Dolmabahce Palace, Beylerbeyi Palace and Chora Church.

Transportation

The most convenient mode of transportation in Istanbul is taxi which is very accessible. Those who want to pay less can take the shared taxis. Buses are also a great alternative but it is slower.
