71 Nyhavn Hotel was established in an old warehouse, which is now preserved, in 1971. The warehouse was originally used for storage of spices and other articles of commerce from the Far East. As lorries and planes began to take over a great deal of the overseas trade, the importance of the warehouse was somewhat diminished. Consequently it was turned into a storage room for furniture. Everywhere at the hotel you can still see the original rafters made of Pomeranian pine, making you sense an atmosphere of bygone days.
The hotel has gone through great redecoration and renovations in 1997 and 2001, and today with memories of a past history as the old Suhr-warehouse and the Global-warehouse, it appears as a first class hotel with a charming and rustic atmosphere.

71 Nyhavn Hotel is located on the corner of the Harbour and the Nyhavn canal in the historic part of Copenhagen.

Our room was clean but tiny, with an exciting view of the lightwell, and attached to a miniscule bathroom with Mediaeval plumbing, which had us showering in ankle deep water.
We travel frequently to Copenhagen, and for the same amount of money it is possible to find much nicer rooms in a number of other hotels.

We stayed here a few years ago, but I would hope we will get back. It was one of my favorite smaller European hotels, in a renovated spice warehouse. The location is perfect -- our window opened on the waterways for beautiful views and sights. It was a safe neighborhood with people in the evenings just up the street in the bar/restaurant row on the canal -- nice to be around other people walking. Our room was small, but spotless and charming -- the bathroom was tiny with beautiful Blue Danish tiles lining the walls. Everyone was helpful and the buffet breakfast was delicious. I would recommend this hotel highly.

I stayed at 71 Nyhavn Hotel for three nights during May 2003 and loved it. The location was excellent - near to the beautiful harbour and the famous Stroget. The room was warm, spacious and comfy and contained the best bed I think I have ever slept in apart from my one at home!! The breakfast was fantastic, and the staff were friendly I would recommend this to anyone as I would definitely go stay there again

A charming little hotel on Copenhagen's harbor. The staff kindly let us check in about 8:30am (we arrived on an overnight flight), and were always extremely gracious. The room was clean and well-appointed, but extremely small--I think the photos posted must have been taken with a fisheye lens. The location is excellent, however--all the major sites are within easy walking distance.

Have stayed here many times and in many ways this hotel is unbeatable. THe location is great - right on the old harbour with so many great restaurants around and a fantastic atmosphere year round. The hotel's own restaurant is also very good both for breakfast (fantastic) and dinner. The hotel is in a converted warehouse and is themed accordingly.
Now, you have to be clear what you want with the rooms.
The ones in the front which overlook the harbour are very small. In particular the bathrooms are the smallest I have ever encountered - more like those on a sailing yacht. I defy you to take a shower! THey are very very comfortable though - just small.
The rooms in the back are an entirely different kettle of fish. Large, with huge bathrooms and furnished very very stylishly. Great beds and linens.
So, you have to decide if you want view and small room or no view and huge room.
But, for my money its the best in Copenhagen.
