Brief History
Agadir used to be a small fishing village during the Medieval Era. The Portuguese arrived in Agadir in 1505 building a trading post which brought prosperity to the city for two centuries. Two huge earthquakes hit Agadir which caused a lot of damage and casualty in the city, but King Muhammad V rebuilt the Agadir in 1961.

Agadir hosts many unique festivals which attracts thousands of tourists each year including the Honey Festival in May. This event is held in Argana which is famous for its beehives and tasty treats made out of honey. Another popular event is the Timitar Festival which highlights the culture of Berber people. Agadir is famous for its beaches and the best surfing spots in the resort include the Devils Rock and Imesouane Bay. There are also several museums in Agadir that are worth-visiting such as the Museum Municipal du Patrimoine Amazigh, Musee de Talborjt "La Casbah" and Musee Bert Flint.
