Can't complain.
Booked two nights in the Apollo hotel but ended up staying three. I was slightly wary after reading other reviews of the hotel but to be honest I can't see why people were moaning. I paid £35 a night for my room and definitely think I got my moneys worth (even though I managed to miss breakfast both mornings I'd paid for it). The room was a good size, clean and provided everything I expected of it. The bed was comfortable the facilities were good. There was a bit of noise on a couple of occasions from other guests but as others have said it appears to be a popular place to stay for people going out clubbing on Broad St. It didn't disturb me too much though. My room was on the opposite side from the street so traffic noise wasn't an issue either although I sleep like a log so it probably wouldn't have bothered me. One bad thing, the tv reception in the rooms was very poor. The hotel staff were polite and helpful. I was able to obtain extra milk/sugar, advice on taxis, etc. I did have a slight problem with my keycard only being charged for one day so I had to have it recharged so I could get into my room. This was dealt with instantly. They were also good enough to match my internet discounted rate when I asked for a third night. All said I think I would recommend the hotel to others for the discounted price I paid. If you want a comfortable, cheap hotel near central Birmingham you could certainly do worse. |

lovely hotel
I recently stayed at this hotel on my trip to Birmingham to visit a friend of mine. I was there for a couple of days. The hotel was perfectly located. It was near the heart of Birmingham. The room was really clean with a comfortable bed. The decoration of hotel was modern and elegant. I loved the English breakfast with many choices. I also liked the hotel staff. They were polite and helpful. I will surely stay there when I come back to Birmingham! |

Nice, clean and comfortable
Me and my boyfriend recently stayed at Apollo Hotel. This hotel couldn't be situated more better. It is only 5 minutes to Birmingham city center where one can find a huge shopping center, restaurants and night clubs. Shakespeare's birth place Stratfort-upon-Avon is one of the historical sites close to Birmingham. The rooms are cosy and very comfortable with en-suite facilities. The hotel offers a full English breakfast which is fresh and delicious. Hotel's bistro style restaurant also serves very delicious dishes. |

Overall acceptable
Receptionist immediately recognised that one of the party was disabled and as lifts out of order, found a room on ground floor, which was greatly appreciated. Breakfast very good, with lots of choice. However, Room Service not available during the evening! Overall, acceptable. |

Good value
We booked the hotel primarily because all our chosen hotels near to the centre of Birmingham were either fully booked or astronomically expensive. We were pleasantly suprised at the standard of rooms and facilities . All rooms looked as if they were newly decorated. Breakfast was included in the price and was quite adequate. Parking was free. A very good value hotel with a good Italian restaurant next door. |

Didn't expect it to be so good
Very suprised by this hotel. Didn't expect it to be so good. Room, although small was spotless. Decent facilities. Friendly and helpful staff. Great location for popping into city. Excellent breakfast included in room price. Highly recommend and intend to go there again. |

Ideal location
Slightly dated decor and carpets etc.., but clean with friendly enough staff. Ideal location - bus stop into the city centre is almost outside. Don't be put off by the 'buffet breakfast'. In reality this is far superior to many served-at-table breakfasts I've had in the past, at supposedly superior establishments! |

We stayed at this hotel in August, 2004, and found the rooms to be very clean and in excellent condition. Excellent value for the price. The staff are friendly and very helpful. I requested a non-smoking room on the quiet side of the hotel, not on ground level. I was given just that! Full English breakfast was included and was well prepared. Fine location for visiting B'ham U. |
