We chose this hotel as it was recommended by our travel agent and our cruise line uses it for extended stays for passengers. The hotel service was impeccable except for 2 problems: late November the weather is usually much colder than when we were there. The city experienced an unusual warm spell. The A/C for the entire complex seemed to be turned off because everywhere we went in the hotel (including our room), it was quite warm and humid (altho our room steward told us the A/C was on). We had a Club Floor room with excellent view of the Acropolis and Lycabettus, and opening the large window provided cool relief, however noisy. After we got checked into our room, we also had horrible service for mid-afternoon lunch at their Cafe Vienna...the wait staff was EXTREMELY slow (we had to find our own menus from another table), "the kitchen" got our orders wrong, we couldn't find our server to sign off on our bill, etc., so what should've been a quick 20-30 min. lunch took well over an hour. A redeeming value was very nice continental breakfasts in the Club Room included with our stay along with complimentary wine and appetizers in late afternoon (if one wasn't out sightseeing). We also had a very romantic dinner at their rooftop restaurant with a table by the window and great view until a group of 30 or so VERY noisy business persons arrived for cocktails and business dinner. Our last night we ordered room service which was tops. The concierge performed almost impeccably, and taking the free hotel shuttle to the city centre saved us lots of taxi fare. (If you want to walk directly from your hotel to any sights, don't stay here...it's not close to any.) When we return to Athens, we will definitely stay here again on their Club Floor...it's worth the extra bucks to have the amenities and fantastic views.

We loved using the Intercontinental Hotel as our home base during an all-too-brief tour of Greece. The room initially assigned to us did have a problem with the bathtub but the hotel gave us another, much nicer room quickly and made sure our bags were delivered promptly. The food we enjoyed there was very nice and you couldn't beat the view of the Acropolis! We are definately going back and will stay here again.

We stayed in the Intercontinental Hotel for two weeks, and had the best time ever. The hotel is fabulous!! The service in Cafe Zoe, Cafe Vienna and at the swimming pool is excellent. The staff is extremely friendly and polite and they pamper you all day! The room was very spacious and was cleaned twice a day. The shuttle service to the center is ideal and the drivers are very friendly as well. I'll never stay at another hotel when I return to Athens, because the Athenaeum InterContinental is absolutely the best!
