Pitlochry is positioned in the centre of Scotland, just above the meeting of the Tay and Tummel Valleys.

Since invaders began to travel from the sea up to the centre of Scotland on these rivers, Pitlochry has been on the main routes, from north to south and east to west.

The Great North Road, used by Highland crofters to bring their cattle and sheep to the markets of Edinburgh, ran through Pitlochry, as did the 'Road to the Isles', which still forms part of the road from Pitlochry to the north. General Wades military roads, built in an attempt to control the rebellious Scots, are scattered around Highland Perthshire.

Today Pitlochry enjoys the character of a small rural town, in one of Europes most beautiful and least inhabited areas, but is still very easy to reach.

Pitlochry is at the start of the highland line so that the dramatic scenery of the Highlands, and the Cairgorms National Park, and the gentle slopes of the lowlands are both within a few miles.

If you are arriving by air or rail you may wish to hire a car for a few days to enjoy out fantastic scenery.

* The spa draws on its heritage as a Victorian health hydro using the powers of natural spring water which comes from the mountain of Ben- y -Vrackie which stands over Pitlochry. These waters are used as a tonic and are unique to the Atholl Palace as is the fresh Highland air.

* The Atholl Palace Hotel offers a range of conference and banqueting rooms, suitable for events of all sizes, ranging from car launches to interview rooms. The largest room is the spectacular, circular Atholl Suite, with a capacity for up to 300, and very large doors at ground level to allow for easy access. The room sizes vary from the beautiful Bow Lounge, the original ballroom, to the privacy of the Corrie room, ideal for a boardroom style meeting for 20, or the syndicate rooms which can be used for small groups or as temporary offices.
