guest from athens
huge hotel, extremely busy most of the times.you struggle to get a free table at breakfast and most of times you have to share tables with others.rooms are ok.the underground (u4)is just accross the main door and 'shonenbourg palace' only a couple of stops away(5 minutes).even walking to city center(karlsplatz) is only 15 minutes away.just arround the corner there is the church where composer shubert used to perform years ago.the hotel staff where very nice and helpful and the rooms comfy and clean.the only downside its size and the overcrowding.i would not rate it as a 4 star but definetlly a 3.

Excellent experience
Great location, 10 minutes from main shopping area, max 20 minutes walk to ring road.
Nice, clean rooms, buffet choice was more then good. Pleasant stuff, very helpful, big garage, in one word great value for money, next time will go again to this hotel.

Good hotel, great price
There were at this hotel March 26-30, 2010. The hotel is like in the first place by its location (25 steps from the subway), and the second phase of its democratic price.
Cleaned daily. Breakfast (included in price) - at a good level. Minus the hotel feel very large number of rooms and hence, as a consequence, long wait for the elevator, and the breakfast very many people, though all places lacking (4 dining rooms).
Decent choice for the traveler who had come to enjoy Vienna and located in the hotel only at night.

A negative surprise
The hotel is well located, in a nice area, but when we arrived, the staff were not very nice, there was no one to help with luggage or to show you to tour room. We do recommend this hotel.

My wife and I just returned from a 4-day trip to Vienna, our first time there. We had a great time due not in short part to our accomodations at the Ananas Hotel. The location of the hotel is phenomenal, being literally 10 feet from the U-4 station, which made getting to anywhere in Vienna extraordinarily easy. The hotel had a generally attractive, young and friendly crowd (about 30-40% American tourists, the others from other parts of Europe or Asia) and the staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. The bar was a lot of fun and usually did not close until after 2 am. The breakfast buffet was also good, with several meats, cheeses, fruit juices, coffee, rolls, breads, butter, jams, honey, eggs and dessert cakes. One annoying occurrence was an unexpected 50+ Euro charge when we were checking out because some of the TV channels were "pay" but were automatically billed if you watched them (there was no "activation" required on the part of the viewer).
Also, there were lots of "free" channels but the only English speaking ones were CNN and MTV.
The "Motto" restaurant, a pharmacy, a pizza place, several cafes and a falafel restaurant were also within walking distance of the hotel. The staff were always willing to make suggestions regarding activities and/or dining, and would even call restaurants for us to make reservations. All in all, we had a great stay in Vienna and recommend this hotel strongly.
P.S. Our recommedations for things to do in Vienna: the Hofburg, Baden, Grinzing in the Vienna Woods, Schonnbrun Palace, the Kartnerstrasse
