This was our first time to Paris, but not our last. We arrived to Paris on a Sat morning in August. The hotel checked us in immediately and showed us to our room. We had a queen bed with a beautiful little terrace. The room was a decent size from what I had heard about European hotel rooms. The bathroom was bright and clean. The shower only has a half glass pane. Be prepared to mop up the floors after showering. The staff is very kind. We did have a little difficulty conversing with some of the staff. We only knew a few sentences in French and they only knew a few in American. We usually found our way around just fine. Please make sure when coming and going from any establishment to greet the staff as they great you-bonjour! or auvoir. This hotel is small and charming, it was origianally the house of Lord Baltimore. It is across the street from one of the Metro stops and bus stop that goes to Gare du Nord, if taking the train to London. It is down the street from the Franklin Roosevelt stop, which we took more often to get to the tourist destinations. It is less that 10 minutes from the ledge to the Eiffel Tower. Beware in August, a lot of the shops and rest are closed. I could go on and on, We were only there 3 days. Paris is awesome. Take a long walk along the Seine River past the Louvre. The people are very nice. Please make sure to learn at least the main phrases in French. It will make your trip that much more enjoyable. The temperature was in the 80's-very warm in August. The Sofitel was great.
