Delicious foods
Classy, exquisite and outstanding! These are just some of the words I can best describe Bauer Hotel because I can’t stop talking about my experience at this hotel to all my friends. I never felt so special during my trip to Venice and the romantic ambiance made me fall in love with the city more. This hotel is located near St. Mark’s Square and other attractions in Venice so I either explore them by foot or ride the gondolas. There is also a public water bus and taxi which is so cool! It is like a scene from “Waterworld” where all the surrounding is covered by water so tranquil and so serene. I stayed in a Superior Room because it is kinda expensive here but it sure is worth my money. The bed is fit for a queen and the Venetian design really made me feel Italian! The view of the Grand Canal and food at De Pisis Restaurant was truly heavenly! Their spaghetti with tomato, crab and wasabi was really delicious and their tiramisu was simply mouthwatering. And another thing…the chef is cute too specially when he talks. You should also try the Bellini at the Bar Canale…tastes so good you won’t even know you drank too much.

Stayed at the Il Pallazo last week with my family. One of the best hotels we have stayed in Europe. Fantastic location with an absolutely beautiful dining terrace on the Grand Canal. Rooms were impecably decorated with good a/c. Concierge went out of his way to help us. A wonderful experience in a wonderful hotel!

We recently spent four nights at the Hotel Bauer and couldn't have been more satisfied with the entire facility. The quality of the finishes in our room were superb, with padded silk wall coverings, beatiful moldings, venetian plaster, superior soundproofing and a luxurious marble bathroom. The Hotel Bauer and the Il Palazzo share the same common areas, which are spacious and well appointed. We especially loved the dining terrace on the Grand Canal and the cocktail terrace on a side canal. To find this much open space so close to St. Mark's Square is a terrific extra. Each night, a guitarist would play until 11 PM while the gondolas would glide past. We will definitely stay here again!

My wife and I spent the last leg of our Honeymoon at the Bauer. Prior to Venice we visited Rome and Florence and enjoyed both. Having never visited Venice before we weren't sure what to expect. From beginning to end the Bauer was fantastic. The staff was fantastic, the rooms spacious, and the location could not have been better. We had booked with a breakfast package included and would strongly recommend doing so. The food was great and the patio view was exceptional. Our travel agent had emailed ahead and mentioned that it was our Honeymoon. Upon our arrival we were given an upgraded room and there was a bottle of champagne waiting for us as well. We did not eat in the hotel restaurant. We thought it was a bit pricey and found much more charm venturing out to the local trattorias and eating where the locals do. We felt the Bauer gave you that perfect inbetween feeling of being completely pampered if you wanted or left alone without feeling ignored. Venice was a great city and we feel as though the Bauer had a lot to do with that. When we do go back to Venice we will be staying at the Bauer.

We just returned from a stay at the hotel Bauer. It was costly but then, that is Venice! If you can swing it the junior suite it is fantastic. Our room was just above where tourists pick up a gondola and if you open up the window you are serenaded all night by the singing gondolier. The concierge was so helpful and one of the nights we were there they has a three piece jazz band playing in the lounge. The manager sent up an orchid arrangement and fluffy white robes and even a fruit tray. If your interested ask the concierge to arrange transport (free) to the Island of Murano. They will take you on a back door tour and you can see artists blow glass. The location is premium the staff was wonderful and my expreience was magic!

We booked into the Bauer at the special Christmas rate of 250 per night, including breakfast and one dinner in the De Pisis restaurant. Knowing the general quality of Italian "5 star" hotels, we were somewhat apprehensive about what to expect. Unfortunately we were not upgraded to the Palazzo but we were pleasantly surprised with the Bauer. The public areas of the hotel are impressive and well maintained. This much we expected. The question is always just how much of a disappointment will the room be. In this case, the room was small but well appointed, with a fair size bathroom. I am not a big fan of classical Italian hotel decor (fabric on the walls, heavy colours etc) but here the overall effect seemed to work. Plus we had a fantastic view from the window of the campanile of San Marco and the Doge's palace. The truly impressive aspect to the Bauer, however, was the service. Everybody we dealt with was friendly and helpful. Particular mention must be made of the breakfast waiter who led us up 7 floors to the roof-top restaurant when the main room was full. Also the bar staff. Even the concierge seemed quite friendly and helpful. All in all I would have to recommend the Bauer. Venice is an extremely difficult place to find decent accommodation, even if you are prepared to pay an amount that elsewhere would buy you luxury. On our previous visit we had stayed at the Danieli. While we loved the glamour and the location, it was a sharp contrast to our dark, cramped room (and that was after we had complained about the first room they offered). We might just have been lucky at the Bauer but I would be willing to try my hand again.

After 2 weeks traveling Italy at 3* & 4* hotels this was a much needed 5 *accomodation. The accomodations & service of this hotel on the Grand Canal were fantastic. We arrived probably looked a little worn from our trip from Florence but you wouldn't know if from the friendliness of the reception staff. Our baggage was promptly removed from our possesion and taken over by the helpful staff of the Bauer as soon as we arrived and delivered to our upgraded room in the Palazzo promptly.
We found luxurious bedding, fluffy terry robes and slippers upon arrival as well as a well furnished room with large bath and yes a real honest to goodness HAIRDRYER!!! The only one I found decent enough in Italy to dry my heavy mane. The bed like most in Italian hotels was 2 singles pushed together and was never made up into a large single bed (but we never asked either)Concierge staff was enormously helpful and made us feel taken care of right down to a last minute request of upgrading our train travel return to Rome...arranging seating and calling our hotel outside of Rome to get details on how to arrive there as well as train info once in Rome to arrive to our hotel there. The breakfast room was spectacular with a view over the Grand Canal and a hot breakfast(included). The hot items should be refreshed more often as they are allowed to become very stale...but upon request they will prepare fresh eggs. Champagne is available with fresh OJ for mimosas.
Curiously the staff (housekeeping & others) buzzed our room on several occasions (at least 5 x's) on separate occasions in only 2 days and upon opening the door they would apologize and walk away. Weird but still an overall great experience.

Our family of three spent five nights here in late March 2004 and loved the Bauer! The room was fresh and elegant, the location central, the front desk staff really nice and helpful. We took a water taxi back to the airport - and the launch location was right off the lobby. Can't wait to return, both to Venice and the Hotel Bauer!

We recently stayed in Il Palazzo with our two kids. The personalized service was excellent! We were upgraded to a suite, which allowed a lot more space for the kids. The location was great, close to St. Mark's Square where we spent a lot of time feeding the pigeons. We will not stay anywhere else if we go back to Venice!
