We stayed 4 nights at the Hotel du Lac in July 2004.
This is a very comfortable hotel with an excellent staff. We selected the meal plan and it was a bargain.
We noticed a lot of Brits who apparently return year after year. This is the type of hotel that is conducive to a return visit.
The only problem we encountered was that our room faced the train station and it was noisy. However, we were so exhausted from walking, etc. that we slept very well. You may want to pay a bit more to be on the river side, away from the station. |

We stayed here April 2004. We had a large group of family members(15 total) traveling to Switzerland for the first time. The Hotel DuLac was
an excellent home away from home. It was "between seasons", and the hotel was just opening from a winter closure. Everything was fantastic. The rooms were very nice; loved the balconies. On the second floor there was a large common room that overlooked the river. This was perfect for all of our group to meet and plan our activities, and a great place for the kids to play. The location was great-2 minute walk to the train station--and no, you can't hear the trains in the evening. If you are looking to travel around Switzerland by rail--this is the place to stay... The morning breakfasts were very good, and we had dinner 2 nights at the hotel restaurant-and it was very, very good. The staff was incredibly accomodating. A young man who worked on the kitchen/wait staff, Ivo, always made sure we had all we needed.
Due to the earliness of the season, we were not able to visit the downstairs pub(it was not yet open for the season) or take a cruise on the boat parked
behind the hotel, but that was a trade-off we were willing to take to enjoy this hotel almost by ourselves.
We will be back. |

I planned to stay one night in this Hotel in August 2003 but ended up staying an additional night there. The room we were given was at the rear of the hotel with three large windows overlooking the lake. The river with cool blue water linking the two lakes in Interlaken is just a few feet away from our window. I really enjoy sitting by the window, looking at the blue sky, green mountains and the few ducks swimming against the current in the river.
The train station is less than a hundred feet away, but the room has the very best sound insulation. Once the windows are closed we couldn't hear any noise from the trains. We almost woke up too late for the Junfraujoch because we were light sleepers and we thought we would have been awakened by train noise in the morining, but it turned out we couldn't hear anything at all. The train station is so close we had enough time for our breakfast and purchasing tickets at the hotel reception even we were already a bit late. |
