Very nice
Hotel very friendly. Beautiful rooms, beautiful design. Breakfast Swedish and American, excellent. We also recommend the hotel restaurant. Fruit Baskets for the reception of the first day in the room.
One week stay very pleasant.

Hotel consigliato

a nice weekend stay
We booked the hotel for a weekend stay in Stockholm. Although it is located a little way out of the centre we enjoyed the walk of about 10 minutes into the city centre. Hotel has a nice bar area, we only used the restaurant for breakfast which was pretty comprehensive. Bedrooms were a little small but comfortable enough. The staff was all extremely pleasant and helpful - a real credit to the hotel. Overall, the experience at Birger Jarl did well worth the value and we would definitely come back. |

Stayed for 2 nights in February 2004... the hotel was great, the location handy and the staff extremely friendly - they gave us great advice on where to have dinner (Pelikan Restaurant)... Although we didn't stay in one of the rooms by Swedish designers, our room was small, but cozy and immaculate. The breakfast was one of the best I've ever come across - when was the last time you could cook your own crepes at a buffet? Fabulous! |

THough the basic rooms are fine - well decorated and comfortable - it was worth paying the extra to get one of the larger, uniquely designed rooms. In fact on our second visit we were upgraded to a suite with very little extra cost. Unique styling, very clean comfortable and friendly. Costs can't be helped as Sweden is expensive whatever. Can't recommend the hotel highly enough from every point of view - except aircon: pretty inefficient and Stockholm was having a rare heatwave when we were there mid August. But we survived. |

If you are thinking about staying at the Birger Jarl then I highly reccommend you spash out a few extra Krone and stay in one of their 'designer' rooms. Each room has been individually designed by a Swedish artish. The room I had was spacious, modern and very trendy, each room even has its own song!! However, if you are looking for a hotel with frilly curtains, soft carpets and a nice arm chiar to relax in then do not stay here... The Birger Jarl is about style, not comfort. But well worth it!!!! |
