Hotel Bristol, Avignon, France
Hotel in good location inside city walls. Walking distance to Palace of the Popes. Very close to TGV shuttle bus. Only transport from airport is cab - about 20 euros. Hotel in main street, so lots of shops, restaurants, bars nearby. Our room was OK, but a bit tired, although web site said recently renovated. Also dark and dreary. View onto roof and air con ducts. Not a great problem if room was light and bright. We asked to be moved to a higher floor overlooking front street, but busy season and would have been an additional 50 euros per night. Room had mini bar, but no tea or coffee making facilities in rooms (usual for Europe). Sign prohibited outside food being brought into hotel or put in mini bar! Staff was friendly. Continental breakfast was adequate.
