Very hot rooms!
There were really only a few complaints about this hotel: The rooms didn't have any air conditioning or any cool air whatsoever and with only a small window to open can prove stiflingly hot in the summer. (We visited in the month of May). We didn't have a remote control for the television, the pillows were quite uncomfortable and our four poster bed had a broken 'knob'. The very worst thing a bout our whole experience was the breakfast: The man who greeted us into the restaurant was wearing a disgustingly dirty waist coat which was very off putting. The service and the atmosphere in here left a lot to be desired, and the tongs for the self service were hotter than the sun so use these with extreme caution. The hotel did have character though and it is set within authentic grounds which are very picturesque. We paid reduced rates for the rooms so for the price we paid we were happy. If we had paid anywhere near the maximum price of a double room . We would have complained to the management as we felt this would be an overcharge!

well worth the money
We have almost cancelled our booking at Britannia Country House Hotel after reading other reviews but gladly we did not. In contrast to many other reviewers we had quite nice stay. We were a family staying in a triple room that had one king size and one double with huge jaccuzzi bath, lovely toiletries, loads of goodies on the hospitality tray. The staff were wonderful – very helpful and friendly. All in all, Britannia Country House Hotel did well worth the money.

Actually, I thought the hotel wasn't bad at all. I had an Executive room, which is much larger than a standard room with a Jaccuzi. The rooms do not have that corporate hotel blandness and the room was nice and cool.Good pillows. The room service food is not good so just don't order it.The swimming pool and jaccuzi are very light so that's good. The steam room and Sauna have seen better days but do the job.
There's a superb jet shower that is cold only !!!Breakfasts are slightly above average, but the music in the restaurant makes for a good atmosphere - especially if you are there, as I was, on business by yourself.Book over the internet for reduced rates. I'll go again.
