Cancun is a popular holiday getaway in Mexico that is situated in Quintana Roo and on the northern tip of Yucatan peninsula. This famous seaside resort boasts of its fantastic weather being sunny all-year round but frequent rains can be expected between May to October. The best time to visit is from November to April when it is dry and warm.
Cancun used to be a deserted island, but it was turned into a tourist zone when the Cancun Project began in 1970. The project was aimed to link the island to Puerto Juarez, build a residential and tourist zone and an international airport. The project was a huge success and greatly improved Quintana Roo's economy since 1989.
