Carlo IV Hotel, hosted by a magnificent neo-classical palazzo. The most unique luxury and comfort flow through from the room to the restaurant, from the business centre to the Cigar Bar, to the indoor swimming pool with its striking mosaic floor. The fragrance of old wood, the splendor of the finest marble, classic tympanums, elegant finishes and ornate stuccowork: everything expresses exclusive hospitality.
Opened as a hotel in 2003 after restoration/expansion of an 1890 Neo-Renaissance building that first served as a bank and then a post office, the hotel contains a lobby, which was part of the original building, and includes a three-toned marble floor, crystal light fixtures, jewel-tone silk seating, palm trees, and a two-story ceiling with elaborate gilded moldings.
Within its stately walls decorated with ornate stuccowork and gilt details you'll find a splendid world of luxurious elegance and gracious hospitality.

One of the best hotel in Prague
Very Nice Italian hotel in Prague, food is excellent and hospitality also. The owner is an Italian man who also owns many other hotels around europe. Spa is beautiful, food is really great and the whole hotel is simply amazing! good price on otel.com if you book it couple of weeks in advance

Just returned from a long weekend in Prague, staying at the Carlo IV. We had booked the hotel, mainly from recommendations on this site, and the hotel certainly lived up to and exceeded expectations! All parts of the hotel were beautiful and well dressed. The building, expecially the foyer is breath taking. The rooms were lovely, with exceptional bathrooms. The finishing touches added that little something special, which made the holiday even more so. Our package included breakfast, which was an amazingly wide spread of fresh food. I would highly recommend a stay at the hotel, and we will certainly be looking at others in the chain.

We spent 3 days in Prague at Boscolo Hotel. We've booked through the internet the celebration package. When we've checked-in, we received 2 vouchers, one for a dinner (you can select the day of the dinner), and one for a sparkling wine at the bar. The room was very "italian style", nice size with great accommodation. The best part was clearly the spa with steaming bath, sauna and indoor swimming with embedded jacuzzi. However, the water could be a bit warmer. The dinner was excellent quality, associated to very good wine references. Try at the bar the Club Sandwich, the best ever had...

After booking our five day vacation at the Carlo, mainly based on recommendations from this site - we had an amazing time.
This hotel is a dream- classic architecture with attention to detail. Our room was large and beautiful with all the amenities of a luxury hotel. We found all the staff very friendly, helpful and considerate. As others have commented - the pool indeed was freezing! But we found that it was a great was to end our day, putting just our feet in the jaccuzi jets.
The location was perfect. An 8 minute stroll to Old Town square (use the short cuts throught the courtyard malls) but away from all the hustle and bustle. The tram across the street was helpful when our feet hurt from a whole day of walking.
Our next vacations will be planned around other Boscolo hotels - we were that happy with this beautiful establishment.

I stayed here at the end of August for 3 nights on their "Celebration Package". The exterior is very impressive, and the staircase to enter reception is very grand. The reception is also very welcoming, with extremely high standards of furnishings. I do however agree with the previous poster that the piped music played in reception and the bar/restaurant was not appropriate for the setting.
The reception staff and bell boys were all very pleasant, without being stuffy. This was a nice surprise as some 5 star hotels can be uncomfortably pompous with their service. Most staff spoke English fairly well, and you would not have any problems communicating.
It's useful to point out that there are 2 distinct parts to the hotel - the original old building at the front with the rooms with high ceilings, and a newer accommodation block at the rear - this is the one where many of the rooms look out onto a wall. However, they have tried to mask this with Ivy painted on glass panels, which helps. To be honest, none of the rooms in the hotel have views of anything, so if a view is important, then stay elsewhere. However, if you appreciate a very high standard of contemporary decor, this is the place.
With the celebration package you get a room upgrade if available. We were allocated a Superior room in the new part, which was a corner room (342). This room was larger than the rest on the floor, and had a large bathroom with 2 glass bowl sinks, bath (with 2 shower attachments), a seperate shower cubicle (with 2 shower attachments), loo and Bidet. Lovely fluffy bathrobes too. Only thing to let it down is the bath towels are on the small side - they would do well to replace with nice large bath sheets.
The bed was huge and very comfortable, and the room had a large wardrobe and minibar.
The spa was lovely, I had a massage, and even though I was a bit off put that it was just a screened off area around the pool, it was extremely good and great value. Yes the pool was on the cool side, but by no means freezing. I would say it was "refreshing!"
Super large steam room and sauna, and plenty of towels available. The young attendant was much more friendly and helpful than the older guy.
Internet access is available in the rooms either though a DSL connection for your laptop or through the TV. There is also a PC for general use in reception.
Overall I would not hesitate to return, and especially on the Celebration Package - breakfast each day, dinner one evening of your choice and importantly a free, guaranteed late checkout until 4pm, which is ideal if you are on a weekend break as you can make the most of your final day.
For dinner out of the hotel, try Zvonice, which is in the top of the bell tower just down the road from the hotel. Traditional Czech food in a great setting - highly reccommended.

We visited during Prague Spring Music Festival and many other hotels at the 4-star level were completely booked. We booked the Carlos solely on the recommendations written on gtahotels and we were pleased with the accommodations. As we had read in the reviews written here, the rooms and reception area were beautifully appointed in rich fabrics and colors. As was previously noted, the staff was accommodating when we sought assistance but they were not overly soliticious. We liked the quiet location of the hotel, just two very short blocks from the Municipal House and Powder Gate, the entrance of the stroll through Old Town. City highlights: St. James Cathedral, just when you think that you have seen the most beautiful churches, you enter St. James and gasp. It is stunning. it is located about two blocks off the Old Town square so the tourist numbers are fewer. Prague Cathedral-once inside the cathedral, you can use your entrance ticket to climb 187 steps to the top and to magnificent views of the entire city. Kampa Island-restful and quaint streets below Charles Bridge. Lastly, the 1 hr. riverboat cruises offered near the bridges area are an excellent way to get oriented to the city before setting out on foot.

We have just returned from a short stay in Prague. We were very impressed with this hotel, it is very grand, very stylish and bedrooms in the original part of the hotel are just stunning. We found the staff to be very helpful, they don't smile a lot, but they do treat you well!! If we ever decide to return to Prague we would definitely stay at the Carlo IV. Location wise, it is within a 5 minute walk from the Old Town Hall, very convenient for everying really. One word - FABULOUS.

Just returned from a three night stay at this impressive hotel. They have turned a very grand building into an utra modern and stylish facility. The deluxe room was lovely and the bathroom would put any Ritz Carlton bathroom to shame. Service was excellant and the staff were very good looking. This has to be one of the best hotels in Prague. It would definately give the top hotels in London a run for their money.

This hotel was everything that we read from previous reviews. We went on a long weekend trip and booked this hotel through LastMinute. it was my birthday weekend so we wanted something special. This is a 5* hotel located in a quiet area but walking distance to all the main parts in Prague ie. shopping areas and main tourist attractions. If you dont fancy the walk there is a tram stop 50 yards away anyway.
The hotel was beautiful. We were greeted at the entrance and we walked up some long red carpeted steps to a grand entrance and reception. The Czechs arent as good English speakers as the rest of Europe but all the staff (apart from cleaners) spoke it well, even the bell boys. The room wasnt ready when we got there which was slightly annoying-but we were about 3 hours early! Instead we left our luggage there and took a walk into town. On returning late afternoon we went up to our rooms and they were great. We were in a standard room but it puts most Superior rooms in other hotels to shame. Very well decorated and luxuriously carpeted, the room came with all the extras you would expect from a 5*. We then unwound by going to the swimming pool which is located on the bottom floor. The pool is very Romanesque and it is dark-there are candles on the edges. There was no need to take anything from our room as there were dressing gowns and towels etc all there. Also on that floor are Sauna, Steam rm and Gym and sunbeds with waiters at your beck if you want a drink. These were all free, there was also massages available at a price. The only downside was the pool was quite cold! It certainly wasnt heated.
We then got ready to go into town and went to the bar for a drink which is very well set out. When we got back to our room they had surprised with a fruit basket as we happened to mention we were celebrating a bday.
We were there for 2 nights and enjoyed the hotel a lot. I would definitely recommend it. !
