Chao Chow Palace hotel Brussels is within walking distance to North train station which is one of the three major railway stations in Brussels.
This is a basic hotel with a touch of Chinese style. As the hotel is close to the train station you can expect to hear some noise.
LOCATION
Chao Chow Palace hotel is close to the North train station and also not far from the red light district so the property may not be suitable for lone female travellers or families...
You can reach the Grand Palace which is the heart of Brussels in about a 15 minute walk.

Disgusting horrible hotel
The hotel is dirty and stinks. The carpets, curtains and furnishings are filty and stained. The hotel is located in a seedy area. The breakfast is awful and the staff are miserable and unfriendly. I would not have expected to find such a crummy hotel in Brussels, which is supposed to be the capital of Europe.

Excellent Hotel
This review is loooong overdue.
We stayed at this hotel in 2008. Before we went we checked out the reviews on the Net and they were not very good. Because we had to stay just two days we thought we’ll put up with it.
Big surprise – the reviews were very wrong.
The hotel was excellent, roomy, clean, comfortable, quiet – absolutely no trouble with the trains across the street because of good soundproofing.
The staff was friendly, the breakfast plentiful & good, the views towards the city stunning – the connections to trains and local transport excellent and within 1 minute walk.
The brothels in the streets behind the hotel did not bother us at all because we did not go to Belgium to visit the back-lanes and back streets of any city – we went in the opposite direction – to the city where everything was close and handy and within a walking distance.
All in all I think that was the cheapest 4 star hotel we ever stayed in and I think it is grossly underrated.

Good hotel in a not so good location
Very nice hotel, with large clean rooms, a good breakfast and a helpful staff. It's right in front of the north train/metro station, so getting there is quite easy, and it's also only a few minutes walk to the "Grand Place", downtown. The downside is that if you try to explore the streets around the hotel you'll end up in the prostitution zone. Although, we didn't have any trouble even we we got into that area. Just walked back to main streets and to the center, no big deal, really, but it's good to be aware of that before you book your stay.

Great value hotel with rather initimdating location
Chao Chow Palace Hotel is a great value hotel for various reasons, but not for the location definitely. The hotel is located close to downtown of Brussels, however in the middle of the local red light district, where some can find it very intimidating.
As for the hotel itself it's a nice clean adequate hotel, with very friendly and helpful staff, speaking a perfect English. The breakfast was very interesting - noodle varieties were on offer. I'm not a noodle for brekfast lover, it's was very interesting though.
Overall, Chao Chow Palace hotel was good the price, adequate and clean rooms, excellent staff service with very intimidating location though.

Not an ideal location but great service
I stayed at Chao Chow Palace Hotel for three nights. The hotel is located close to the city center of Brussels as well as to the red light district, which might be intimidating for visitors travelling along, but since we were a group of 6 people that was not a problem. Besides, the hotel is close to the Place Rogier, approximately 15 minutes walk to the Grand Place and within walking distance of the Gare du Nord.
The rooms were spacious, comfortable and had the usual coffee making facilities.
The staff were lovely - very friendly and helpful and always early advised where to go/not to go. The receptionist was extremely helpful.
The breakfast was a big strange, not a usual breakfast. Instead of regular breakfast items like eggs, bread and etc. noodles and yogurt were offered. Strange but I found it as some kind of pecularity for this particular hotel.
Overall, I enjoyed my stay at Chao Chow Palace hotel. Perhaps, it's not an ideally located, however, spacious and clean rooms, very helpful and friendly staff made it worth it.

Chao Chow - Bad Location, Location, Location
The hotel was imaculate big bed... and I would not bring my family to this location. On business travel with need for quick access to the rail or subway, this was a great choice. It's located at the back entrance of the Main Brussels train station. The area is seedy, with sex shops located around it. No restaurant in the hotel, a bar..only people that I saw other than myself was staff.
I wouldn't stay here again, because of its location. Hotel was very clean
