The Hotel Charleston opened as a hotel in the late 1990s in the seventh-century Santa Teresa Carmelite convent in Cartagena's historic walled district. Guests enter the six-floor salmon and gold-colored hotel into a colonial-style lobby with a center courtyard surrounded by an arched pillared hallway with a reception alcove and conversation areas. Wooden beamed ceilings, wrought iron chandeliers, paintings and decorations are true to the seventh century. The hotel is within walking distance of museums, churches, and restaurants. |

* Gollerias Restaurant and Bar offers international dishes, specializing in tapas. A wide variety of wines and other liquors are available.
* Casual dining takes place under the emperor palms in Republican Patio, the hotel's center courtyard, and in hotel's Plaza Santa Teresa, where special buffets are served.
* For lunch and dinner the rooftop La Terraza Restaurant offers indoor and alfresco dining with spectacular views of the old city and sea. La Terraza features dishes of the Caribbean.
* The rooftop pool has spectacular views of the city and sea. The two-floor spa, new in 2006, with a sleek minimalist presentation, offers a complete range of therapies and massages with a steam room, water massage showers, and a tranquil relaxing area on the rooftop with lounge chairs, hammocks, and misting pergolas. A complete fitness center is located above the Salon Chorus viewed through the wooden latticework.
* Three salons serve groups from 25 to 220 with full audiovisual and catering services. La Capilla (chapel) retains much of the original decor including the altar and large green wooden entry doors. The Republicano and Tito meeting rooms meet the needs of smaller groups. Interior balconies can be used as a reception area or for displays. |
