Hotel Chateau de Toilette
It is a little difficult to find the exact words to describe my experiences at Hotel Limelette as it is without a doubt one of the worst hotels I have stayed in during the past three years and I travel often because of my work.
I know it is the tendency of some to write about their experiences at a hotel and make it sound worst than the treatment of prisoners at a concentration camp. I can say wholeheartedly that this will not be attempted by me. All I wish to do is reveal a number of facts about my visit and let you make up your own mind.
At first sight, the hotel has many positive features about it but most of these are aesthetic, such as the structure of the building and how all the lights are arranged around the hotel. Unfortunately this has little meaning for me as I judge a hotel based on what it offers you in terms of service. This is also the reason why I have stayed in lower star hotels and enjoyed my stay far more than this one.
Here are the facts:
Day 1: Before my colleague and I arrived, we phoned to check whether there was high speed internet access. When we arrived we found that this did not work and the paid service through Proximus was quite high (24 Euro/day). I paid this and still could not get access. When I phoned Proximus, an answer phone told me to call back in the morning.
Day 2: The power to my room and my colleague’s room was cut. After two hours I was relocated to a new room.
Day 3: Having asked the receptionist to call for a taxi at 9am, which she agreed to, we found no booking was ever made and the new receptionist simply told us it was forgotten about, followed by an empty apology. We made it to our meeting at LLN 40 minutes late.
At 8pm, I asked about access to the restaurant. The receptionist told me, yes it is open till 10pm but it is fully booked. I could see into the restaurant and half the tables were not occupied. She then asked me to get some food at the bar. It took about 10 minutes before a barman finally showed up and took my order. They took 45 minutes to warm a lasagne for me. When I asked if I could just take the plate to my room, I was told by the barman that it would cost 9 Euros extra (room service charge.)
Day 4: We checked out and when I was in the taxi on the way to the station, I found out that I have been billed 19 x 3 Euros for breakfast which I never asked for and 28 Euros for the minibar which was 3 cans of coke and a couple of bags of peanuts.
Suffice to say that this hotel is just terrible and certainly not worth the >200 Euro price tag per night. Save your time and money and go elsewhere like Hotel Mercure which is very good.
