The Comfort Hotel With is right on the Tromso harbor, along with the Rica Ishavshotel and the Clarion Hotel Bryggen, but less expensive. (Nicer-looking than the next-door Clarion, although Choice considers Clarions to be their higher class of hotel). Design mimics the other M-roofed harbor buildings, so it looks like it belongs. Easy walk to everything in town. We had a spacious junior suite for 4 on the top (6th) floor, with a full-height window that opened to a great view of the harbor (small-boat side, not the cruise ship/Hurtigruten dock), Tromso Bridge, and the Arctic cathedral on the other side of the fjord, and sounds of seagulls. Good breakfast buffet. Tromso has the feel of a college town, which it is; worth a couple days to explore, and this hotel's a nice choice. |
