There's not much to see from the outside as the Cour des Loges is on a back street in Vieux Lyon. But inside it is magnificent. The buildings date back to the 15th-17th centuries when Lyon flourished as a textile and trading center. They were lovingly restored a few years ago, creating 62 rooms arranged around a courtyard. We stayed in one of the mezzanine rooms on the 3rd floor. Though the room was rather somber and there is no view, it was perfect for a romantic weekend. The hotel staff was friendly and the service was impeccable. It all added up to an unforgetable experience. Out the front door, in Vieux Lyon, there innumerable restaurants proposing mouth-watering menus. After all, Lyon is the culinary capital of France. So the Cour des Loges and Vieux Lyon are key ingredients for a romantic weekend.
