The hotel is hosted by a turn of the century Villa, an oasis of peace only 100 metres from the famous golden beaches and pine grove of Juan les Pins, home of the renowned International Jazz Festival, close to the Casino and the Congress Hall.
A bit of history. Amedee Anatole Courbet was born in Abbeville in 1827. He fought against the Pavillons-Noirs (Chinese pirates known as the He-Kis) in the bay of Along, in Shang-Hai, Hanoi, Sontay, Haiphong and Matson, where he was commander of theFrench fleet. He established the French protectorate in Annam (Vietnam) in 1883. Amiral Courbet died in Pescadores in 1885.

In the 1930s, Juan-les-Pins drew a chic crowd during winter. Today it attracts young Europeans from many economic backgrounds in pursuit of sex, sun, and sea, in that order.Juan-les-Pins is often called a honky-tonk town or the "Coney Island of the Riviera," but anyone who calls it that hasn't seen Coney Island in a long time. |
