(Stayed 21-22 June 2003) I came across this 'review" site after booking a weekend at the Crowne Plaza Hotel. At first I was bit concerned and worried reading the reviews some people had posted onto the site. It was bit late for me to cancel the weekend break as full payment was already made. Anyway, I thought we'll find out for ourselves and see what the hotel is really like. We travelled on the Eurostar and arrived at the Midi station. We were at the hotel in 20 minutes on the Metro.
Rogier station is right opposite the hotel which was very convenient to get about town. We found the hotel very clean. Room was tastfully decorated, very nice and clean and a very good size. There was a separate toilet. The bathroom was quite large and again clean. All staff from reception to the porters were very kind. polite, courteous and very helpful. We just happen to mention if there were any vegetarian restaurants and on our return to the hotel after couple of hours we found on our room door a list of about 6 vegetarian reataurants and how to get there and approx price for a meal. As mentioned by other guests on this site, the hotel is situated near an area where there are few sex shops, but we didn't find this intimidating or cause for concern as there are plenty of other big names hotel nearby, like Sheraton, Hilton, Metropole to mention a few.
Its no worse then walking in Soho in London. If its not your scene, ignore it and walk along. The main Grand Place is about 15-20 minutes walk form the hotel. I would recommend Crowne Plaza Hotel to anyone who wants to stay in Brussels. |

We stayed at the Crowne Plaza last November for 2 nights. I had been a little dubious given how cheap we had got the last minute break for, but when we arrived we loved the hotel and really enjoyed exploring Brussels. The room was fine (great bathroom) and the hotel bar and restaurant were very luxorious. Great buffet breakfasts! Brussels was good for a weekend break but I wouldn't necessarily go back, too many other places in the world left to explore! |
