I've stayed at the Danieli on each of my three trips to Venice. I obviously loved it the first time. I took some very good advice and each time asked for a room in the old building, not the annex, and I have never been disappointed. I did not have the money for a room facing the lagoon, but I was always rewarded with a pleasant room facing a small canal on the side. However, what won me over the first time was taking the hotel's private boat from the airport to the lagoon, then down that same small side canal to a little landing that led to the hotel's side entrance. That was it for me. Walking into the main lobby and looking up at the amazing internal architecture sealed my loyalty. This was everything I had expected from the world's most delightfully decadent city.
Breakfast on the terrace overlooking the lagoon is certainly not cheap, and I only do it once per visit. But how could one not take advantage of the most spectacular view of the lagoon you could imagine? The Danieli's position off St Mark's Square puts it close to everything you want to be in Venice. Cheaper accommodation can be found in many corners of the city, but in Venice, it pays to be dead center. If nothing else, you can offload your shopping regularly, and even sneak in a nap on those sultry summer afternoons.
Wondering what to do when the shops close at midday for a few hours?
Make it over by boat to the beautiful pool at the Hotel des Bains on the Lido beach. Just in front of the hotel is a private launch, where the hotel's boat will take you over to the Lido, and it won't cost you a penny. It is part of the amenities that Danieli provides you, that the newer "hip" hotels cannot possibly give you. That and those wonderful boat rides across the lagoon to and from the Lido make what the Danieli offers special. Never have I felt so wealthy without spending a cent.
Is the Danieli expensive? Yes, compared to other hotels it is, but Venice invites one to luxuriate in its magical beauty. I am more than happy to do Paris, Rome and Prague on the cheap, but Venice deserves better. There is no city like it in the world, and the Danieli should not be judged on the basis of cost vs service, but be seen as a one of the very elements that makes the city great.

A stunningly beautiful hotel of incomparable magnitude - a veritable cornucopia of antiques and art, Murano crystal and a myriad of fine and sumptuous décor and furniture statements. This is more a revelation of miraculous palatial splendour, rather than just a luxury hotel. But hey they have everything you need here too. Good service, cleanliness, and efficient and friendly staff. And the most sensational and mind-blowing views that would move even the most miserable guest. Even the food is sky-high quality-wise.If you want a life changing experience and a memory to savour forever, then the Danieli comes up trumps. More than that, it transcends the ordinary and reaches the realms of the stratospheric extraordinary.A national monument, the trick of the 14th century Danieli, is that it is every inch a luxury hotel and more. One of the top most beautiful hotels, the Danieli vies with equally luminous works of hotel art, such as the superb Dorchester in London and the magnificent Crillon in Paris.I cannot imagine anyone not being totally smitten by this incredible hotel.

Surely one of the best rooms in the hotel room 37 is a suite with two balconies overlooking St Marks Canal and the Entrance to the hotel. My stay was unforgettable and the hotel staff were super considering the reputation Venetians have As an employee of a travel company I have since recommended the Hotel Danieli to many people all of whom have been equally impressed. It is the ideal once in a lifetime hotel so if you have a few quid go for it! Just insist that you stay in the old building!

Great location to tour Venice. Lobby is beautiful and the staff good.
Clean and average size room with good AC. The hotel is not on a par with other 5 star hotels but still a good choice--maybe not worth the premium price you pay, but still a nice place to stay when in Venice.

I took a short trip to Venice with a friend off season for 1 night. My agent put us in a hotel outside the city so we had to find something central. We walked past the Danieli and decided to inquire. They gave us a room for the night for just over ?200 which seemed fair for one of the best hotels in such a location. We were grateful to check in early.
Fortunately we got the old part of the building. It was the Italian equivalent of staying in Claridges in London. It was warm, clean and the staff were helpful. We reduced our bill by not eating at the hotel.
Food and drink prices were the same as in London. The location is perfect. The interior is stunning. We even had fresh towels half way through our stay of less than 24 hours. I'd definitely go again if I could get a good deal but I would not want to be in the 'new' part of the hotel. I suspect it would be dificult to beat this hotel overall.

My wife and I had really been looking forward to staying at this hotel especially since it was a 5-star hotel and we were using Starwood points for our stay. However, upon our arrival, we were informed that the hotel staff would likely be on strike for a couple of days during our stay. They offered to move up to another Starwood property be we elected to stay as it didn't seem that the strike would mainly impact restaurants and room service and we didn't plan on using those services anyway. The staff then gave us a wonderful upgraded room overlooking the lagoon. Everything about the room was first class....the decor, the furniture, the bed linens (truly linens) and the view! We avoided eating at the hotel based on the reviews and costs. And in the end, the staff didn't go on strike. The concierge was very helpful, but like the last reviewer, I would stay away from the Carpaccio restaurant...it was our only disappointing restaurant in Venice. Bottom line, if you've got the money or the points, this is a fabulous hotel. As far as good restaurants, our top votes go to La Madonna and Vino del Gigio (hope the name is correct). Aqua Pazza was very good, but a bit more "modern" than some of the others and the service was a bit lacking (as in they forgot our order).

We stayed here for in June. The hotel is beautiful. Our only complaint was that the bed and pillows were lumpy. The view from the resteraunt is amazing I could have sat up there all day. The room we had was very large but the view which was of the building next to us made the room seem dark. Next time I'd get a room with a view looking over the Grand Canal.

In late April the weather in Venice was pretty good. The Danieli is in what was once a palace and is an older building but very beautiful. The rooms were large and well appointed and the bathrooms large also with heated towel racks; it could get a little warm in there. The rooms were spotless. After staying in other 5star hotels, i thought the breakfast buffet was lacking and greatly overpriced. However, all of Venice is pricey in the better restaurants9much more so than here in the states. I also thought the room rates were way overpriced compare to the Sacher in Salzburg and Four seasons in Munich. It was still a wonderful experience to stay there and the gentleman who checked me in was perfect. the concierge was a little gruff.
