Spent 2 nights at the Consoli and picked it mainly because of it's proximity to the Vatican (where I knew I would be spending at least 1 full day). It doesn't disappoint - it's VERY clean and the staff are really friendly and effecient. Stayed in standard room, which had a generous queen sized bed, fully stocked mini-bar and TV - although be advised that only CNN and News 24 are the English channels (but you don't go to Rome to watch TV do you??!).Breakfast is nicely set out and continental, but some may prefer the fully cooked selections that larger hotels provide. Walked to most places - Castel D'Angelo in 5 mins, 20 mins to Spanish steps, Vatican in 5 mins - I've stayed nearer the termini station in the past, and found walking around that area tiring as it's very hilly - this hotel is in a nice flat part of Rome. Shops are all around within 1 minute. Two quick tips - the hotel can arrange pick up from the airport - do this as it's much cheaper than the taxi-ranks and secondly, go to the Vatican museum by 0830 and avoid the LONG queues (go straight to the sistine chapel too and avoid the crush later)Would stay at this hotel again.

Dear Hotel Dei Consoli:Just wanted to say how much we enjoyed our stay in your hotel on February 6 and 7. It was such a comfort after a very long day and night of travelling from the US to get to your beautiful hotel. It is perfectly located, quiet, clean and lovely. The front desk gentlemen were most professional and helpful. The breakfast was the best we had the entire 10 days we were in Italy, especially the cappuccini!Thank you for all.Sincerely,Julie Lyon & Britton Jewett

We had a fabulous 10-day stay at the Hotel dei Consoli in Rome. Immaculately clean, really comfortable room, excellent full breakfast, very helpful and friendly staff. We recommend getting a room with a jacuzzi -- it has a little more space than the standard. Close to the Metro subway, shopping, Vatican, etc. All around excellent hotel.

Just spent the weekend in Rome and two nights in this charming, friendly hotel. Very conveniently located near to the Vatican. The room was lovely, very nicely decorated and the Jacuzzi bath was just what you needed after walking the streets of Rome. The breakfast selection was really good and again just what you needed before a long day of sight-seeing in this wonderful city. Would definately recommend to anyone to stay at this charming and very friendly hotel.

We just completed a four-day stay at this wonderful hotel and would recommend it highly to anyone who wants to stay in the NW section of Rome near the Vatican. Our room had a balcony that overlooked a tree-lined street with wonderful shops. The breakfast is terrific and is set up in two rooms that are furnished with small round tables and comfortable chairs. We were only three blocks from the Vatican! If you ask, they will give you a great map of Rome, which we used to plan our activities. We can't wait to go back.

This is a first rate hotel, with an extremely comfortable room and marbled bath with jacuzzi. It is a great choice if you plan to be spending alot of time at the Vatican . The staff is very helpful , though it is probably a better choice for couples than families as our room, while elegant and comfortable, was a bit too small for three people.

My husband and I just returned after a two week stay in Rome and Florence. The Hotel Dei Consoli is an excellent hotel. The Vatican is just around the corner, and there's a Mero stop a few blocks away if you don't want to walk everywhere around Rome even though that's possible. The hotel had a great winter rate. We stayed in a standard room with a king size bed. Our room faced the street but the windows were great at soundproofing. I was able to reserve a nonsmoking room which was important to us and hard to do in Italy. The staff is very professional and was very helpful with anything we wanted. We were able to leave luggage at the hotel for a few days while we went to Florence. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

My first trip to Italy and thankfully the staff at Hotel Dei Consoli had many wonderful suggestions and scheduled trips to Naples, Pompei and Florence. The rooms are small, but nothing unusual for Europe.

Wow, where to start? My fiance and I ended our 16-day European excursion in Rome and stayed at this hotel. We were greeted by a friendly staff who quickly checked us in and took our bags to our room. Our concierge gave us helpful tips and advice on the area, including wonderful restaurants to visit. Our room was large and plush. The breakfast was nice, with a large assortment of pastries, desserts, as well as eggs, meats and cereals and yogurt. The location is close to the Vatican and St. Peter, but a healthy walk to Spanish Steps, Coliseum etc. So for me, who loves to walk, I thoroughly enjoyed it. The area is nice and safe. I would recommend this hotel, as well as stay here again upon to chance.

We went to Rome for the first part of our honeymoon, and were very pleased with this hotel! The rooms are relatively small, it's true, but they are ellegantly decorated and very clean and comfortable. The bathrooms are absolutely lovely as well, which is sometimes hard to find in Rome. It was about a 4 or 5 minute walk to the Vatican and St. Peter's Square, and 5 minutes in the other direction to the metro, which connects you to all major sites. Breakfast in the morning was superb... we looked forward to it every day! The staff was incredible too. And the rooms were soundproof, which was very nice. We would HIGHLY recommend this hotel, and would stay there again, definitely!
