We stayed with our 17-month old at the Duke of Leinster in mid-June 2004. The hotel was exorbitantly expensive (by U.S. standards) for the size and amenities of the rooms, but clean and centrally located (near the Bayswater and Queensway stations). The neighborhood is diverse and vibrant, with Moroccan, Malaysian, Indian, Thai and Chinese restaurants within walking distance. Breakfast is served in the basement in a cramped room, but the food is decent and service is excellent. The rooms are very small, but elegantly furnished and rooms facing the street have large windows with balconies. Staff are knowledgeable about the city and can help plan day trips. The elevator is incredibly small (barely enough room for one person to stand in) and might pose problems to people with a lot of luggage or those in wheelchairs.

The breakfast was really good, wide selection of bits and pieces. All in all a great one nigth stay. I would recommend this hotel to everyone and will be returning again!

I'm an IT consultant working temporarily in London and I've stayed in at least 15 different London hotels at or under the ?100 a night mark in the last year. The Duke of Leinster is by far and above the cleanest, most modern and best hotel that I have stayed in by far.If you want quality modern accomodation in a proper Central London hotel under ?100 you will not beat this hotel, trust me on this! The room(s) I stayed in were bright, modern, clean, well equipped (even a mini-bar) and above all quiet, none of the usual odd thumps and bumps and no noise from next door like I've been used to.There was instant hot water, plenty of shower pressure (I've stayed in more expensive London hotels were I've had to wait 20 minutes to get a warm shower and the pressure was no more than a trickle) and an abundance of clean fresh towels.Alright the room wasnt massive, certainly not by USA standards but it served me well and I'd rather have a slightly more compact room in this hotel than a larger room in any of the other London hotels I've stayed at.My only disappointment is that I have to suffer so many other hotels before I found this place!!!!

We spent a week in London, our first night at the Duke of Leinster.
With two children, ages 6 and 12, we wanted to have a nice place to stay, in a good location, but not too expensive. The Duke of Leinster met all these criteria and more. Located on a quiet street not far from Paddington Station (we took the Tube from Heathrow). The family room was very large, with a double bed and two singles and lots of room in between. Very clean and newly decorated, my wife and both kids approved. The breakfast in the morning was very good. No eggs and bacon but sweet roles, cereals, juices, and coffee. Close to a little store and internet cafe. An 8 minute walk to Bayswater and the many great restraunts there. Best of all, right next to Hyde Park! We could not be happier with this hotel. It was really the only 3 star hotel we found for our budget, 120 pds for a family of four.

Location was right next ot Kensington Gardens and major tube stations, including Paddington. At first room felt small, overtime we got used to it. The bed was very comfortable. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
The walls are somewhat thin, so bring earplugs. Overall, very good experince. Private bathroom definetely a plus. continental breakfast very adequate and fridge in room was nice too. Hotel might not be air conditioned so beware if you are going during the summer, not too many places have AC anyway.

The hotel was clean, the fittings were new and modern. The staff were friendly, the service was excellent, as was the food. But the room was very small. We were there during the heatwave and could not sleep the first night. The next night we asked for a fan and this enabled us to sleep more comfortably. My husband and I have been in hotels all over the world, but this double room was the smallest we have ever experienced.

We stayed in this small hotel in Bayswater twice for a total of 9 days and were impressed by the friendly & helpful staff, clean, modern, aesthetically-pleasing rooms, and excellent, filling continental breakfast. The rooms vary in size, but ours was quite large for London, with a large, beautiful bay window.
This hotel had very good plumbing, an electric kettle, electric fan, and a small refridgerator - the kind of amenities you often can't find in a hotel twice the price in London!
This newly updated hotel is a modest gem. While centrally located across from Hyde Park, the lovely, calm, and peaceful rooms served as an oasis to return to after a long day running around in the city.

A friend and I stayed there in May, 2003. The hotel has been recently updated and is modern and clean. The rooms are small, although not by London standards. The employees were friendly and helpful and the breakfast was pretty good. It's close to the Bayswater and Queensway underground stations as well as Kensington gardens.I've paid more for horrible rooms in London so I'd definitely recommend the Duke of Leinster. I'd stay there again.

England is expensive. This place is comparitively reasonable. The location is outstanding, just make sure you know how to get there, because the foreign speaking desk cannot help you, even if you're calling from your cell phone just around the corner. They are trying to be nice, but they just do not know. Ask them where Westminster Abbey is, they haven't a clue. Ask them about parking regulations at great risk to your pocket book. But you get a wrap around balcony in Room 302, although they tell you there are no balconies in the hotel. Every amenity, coffee and teamakers, tiny bathrooms that work, safes work as well, so do TVs. Clean rooms and an art deco decor. Our friends stayed on the ground floor with no view in a room too small to deposit your suitcase. This is a place where you want to attempt to get the facts in advance, except there is the little problem of the information void at the desk! There is street noise, 2 hotels are across the way. And if you want your room made up you had better decide to be out by 9am, otherwise they'll tell you upon waking you, blazingly unapprovingly, that there is no room service for you today. In one week we got lucky twice, being severely reprimanded each morning, but it was more comical than anything else. The breakfast was good. We liked this place.
