Hotel Edda Skogar is located in Skogar in South Iceland. Skogar is within easy reach of many places of interest. In summer, for instance, snowmobile trips are offered on the Myrdalsjokull glacier.
Just five km east of Skogar, visitors can walk up onto the Solheimajokull glacier, only a ten-minute walk from the road. A track leads across the coastal sands from Skogar down to the sea shore, and the town of Vik í Myrdal is a short distance east of Skogar.
About 15 km to the west is another spectacular waterfall, Seljalandsfoss, and another interesting waterfall is Gljufrabui. On the farm of Fit is Paradisarhellir (Paradise Cave), where outlaws are reputed to have taken refuge in the 16th century.
The Skogar Folk Museum is one of Iceland’s finest museums; its collection includes several reconstructions of old houses, as well as a museum of transport. The museum is a five-minute walk from the hotel. |

Hotel Edda Skogar is renowned for its splendid dinner buffet, which the hotel has offered for many years: the freshest of ingredients, prepared with expertise, at a reasonable price. The restaurant seats up to 80.
* Hot-tub outside in a secluded garden. Excellent meeting facilities for groups of up to 30-40 in the main building. At the farm of Seljavellir, about 5 km west of Skogar, is an open-air swimming pool.
* Horses are available for hire at Ytri-Skogar, and Fjallhestar at Holt offer a variety of horseback treks, for instance to Thorsmork in the uplands. |
