An excellent hotel and we will definitely stay there again when returning to Grindelwald, following our first visit in May 2004.
I recommend a south-facing superior room on as high a floor as possible. The view from its balcony is spectacular - with Mount Eiger 'in your face' across the picturesque valley. Get up at dawn for the very special view as the sun hits the top of the mountains.
Room itself is good and spacious with stylish design, white duvets etc and chocolates at turndown-time. Bathroom also good, though my preference is sparkling white rather than a dark brown design.
One negative - the first impression from the hotel's gloomy reception area - it's dominated by a dark concrete mock-up of the Eiger - pointless as the real one is facing the front door. Please don't be put off by it, also the exterior photos of the hotel don't do it justice. Location is ideal, not noisy and just a 5 min stroll trundling suitcases on the level from the station.
Food is particularly good (unusually for us we went half-board), with all service in the hotel being excellent. Three different restaurant-types in the Eiger - tried them all and all very good. So, high quality food, various options and a very comprehensive hot & cold breakfast array in the stylish first-floor gallery restaurant overlooking the mountain.
Accurate and interesting accommodationow.com and its own internet booking arrangements very worked well.
