We had a nice stay at Ellersly House Hotel
Earlier this month, we have stayed at a twin room at Ellersly House Hotel. . Had
read the online reviews before leaving, and was feeling anxious, as they were mostly rather negative. I am very pleased to report that our stay was delightful. On entering the hotel, everything looked nice. Staff was extremely pleasant and welcoming. Our room was bright, airy, very clean, a good size, and had all the usual facilities you would expect from a decent 3 star hotel. A good range of food was on offer at breakfast time, and was most enjoyable. Nice dining room, looking out onto lovely, peaceful gardens. The only drawback of the hotel would be the location if one is interested in a city center. The hotel is pretty far from the city center, not with a walking distance for sure.
In contrast to other stayers who had a bad experiences, we had a nice stay at Ellersly House Hotel. Well, heterogeneity of hotel industry perhaps the case in here.

One star service five star price restaurant
Visited July 2007.Service levels in restaurant one of the worst I have experienced.Booked dinner for 06.30 p.m. only me in the restaurant(should have been a warning)Waited 35 minutes for a Goats cheese salad, plate wasn't cleared for a further 25 minutes, then waited a further 20 minutes for a main course of loin of lamb, this arrived, the lamb was in 2 pieces around an inch in size, 2 tablespoons of spring onion mash and a piece of spinach less than an inch round.Price of the main course was £17.50, probably worth around £5-6.Extremely poor value.Full Scottish Breakfast is supposed to be available from 07.30 a.m, on the morning I was there it became available from 07.55 a.m.The room I was in was very small and pokey, the windows are the big old sash type with no security system to allow partial opening for ventilation, this means that those of us who like a bit of a breeze wafting through during the night are unable to have this as it means leaving the window open with a threat of break in etc.The only good point with this hotel is its location, near enough to walk to the centre(20 mins) and the pleasant gardens.
