....a little better
Further to a visit earlier in the year (see review dated 21st July 2008) I found myself back at the Erskine Bridge Hotel. Again I had been allocated a smopking room (as requested) but again no ashtrays provided in the room. As mentioned in my previous review, I have no problem with hotels being all non smoking, but if they are going to allocate "smoking rooms", the least they could do is provide ashtrays. My room on the second floor was certainly better than the one on my previous visit on the top (6th ?) floor. Carpets and general decor were a lot cleaner (but not new) and I had a remote control for the TV this time. I have learnt from a reliable third party that the hotel group (Cosmopolitan) are in the throws of "throwing a lot of money" at the hotel to refurbish it. This is not before time. However, in the meantime, at the good value rates available with Otel, I would stay there again.

I stayed at Erskine Bridge for one week. The hotel is modernly decorated. Room facilities are OK. The hotel staff is professional. I enjoyed at the hotel's swimming pool.

Have known better
On checking in, I asked if smoking rooms were available and was surprised to find they were and in fact I had been allocated one as per the request on my reservation. This is the first hotel I have stayed in within Scotland for a long time to offer such facilities. However, as no ashtray was to be found in the room, I asked at reception if one could be provided, to be met with "we do not encourage smoking in the rooms". What an odd policy....either they allow it or they don't. If they don't that is fine by me and I will not smoke. As I was on the 6th floor, excellent views over the Clyde and Glasgow in the distance were to be had. The view inside the room though was not that good. No remote control for the TV (the girl on reception was still "looking" for one after 3 nights), only 1 lamp provided in a 2 light table lamp (problem solved by removing the shade), thread bare carpet on the floor, hot tap in bathroom that just turns and turns and turns and tu......, full blast radiators in the middle of June (problem solved by leaving windows open all night) flaking paint and peeling wall paper. Having experienced the state of the room, I then wonder what the kitchens are like but while checking in at around 5.30 I had been advised the restaurant was fully booked that night so putting two and two together I dined away from the hotel. (In the village centre of Erskine, just about in walking distance on a fine night, you will find a small but resonable Chinese restaurant) I did take one breakfast during my 3 night stay and it was Ok....not brilliant, just OK. At the end of the day considering the good rate obtained through Otel, I was not "spitting blood" about all the above, but a little effort to update certain things with maybe a few pounds on the room rate would not go amiss.

Value for money
This hotel is certainly a value for money hotel with great access to Glasgow Airport and the motorways. despite the fact that our neighbors were noisy, it was pretty much enjoyable stay. There’s a very nice bar area with tastey bar food, large dining area with a very satisfying breakfast buffet and ammenities that I didn’t have a chance to use (full schedule). moreover, hotel staff were friendly.

would go there again
Beautiful situated hotel lovely grounds and views. Went at Christmas so lovely atmosphere. Concerns regarding one of the beds in the twin room even though the mattress was changed still uncomfortable other than that it was a good stay and would go there again.

enjoyed our stay
Enjoyed our stay at this hotel, it was convenient for a wedding we were going to. The hotel is in a prime position and if updated wouold be excellent. We were in an 'upgraded room' which was fine but the public areas need attention. Breakfast was good. Would recommend the hotel for access to the airport or a weekend break.
