My wife and I stayed at the Excelsior for 3 nights for our honeymoon in September 2003. We stayed at hotels in Rome, Positano, Capri, and Ravello during this same trip, and the Excelsior was our favorite by far. The hotel's views of the Bay of Naples and Mt. Vesuvious are the best in Naples. The roof top restaurant was wonderful. The hotel has a great old world charm and atmosphere. The rooms have high ceilings and nice big bathrooms. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The only thing lacking at the hotel was a fitness facility, but this is typical of European hotels. Since this hotel is part of the Starwood chain, the best chance at getting a room with a view is to sign up to become a Starwood member in advance and ask for an upgrade at the desk. |
