Can be a nice choice
Before traveling to Athens, we have booked at Filoxenia Hotel and we were warned about ghastly neighborhood the hotel situated. But the price offer was great and you get what you pay for. By walking toward the Victoria metro station you arrive in the nicer area, just a few blocks from the National Museum. Breakfast was very basic and the rooftop patio was on the 6th floor. Air conditioning worked great and the beds were comfortable. Overall, the hotel is outdated in décor and style, but if you are not picky and just need a cheap accommodation while mainly concerned about exploring Athens, then Filoxenia Hotel can be a nice choice. |

Reasonable, clean and friendly
Comparing to negative reviews posted on internet about Filoxenia Hotel, I would oppose by saying that your experience depends on your expectations and value in your mind. I found the hotel staff were very knowledgeable and helpful to a first time visitor to Athens. The hotel itself is in an older part of Athens, but it is within walking distance of the major tourist attractions, the train station and the subway. So getting around Athens was easy, quick and inexpensive. The hotel is in a quiet area so traffic and other assorted noises were not a problem. The rooms was clean, the linens which were crisp and clean were changed daily, the bathroom was cleaned and well stocked with fresh towels daily. Perhaps, the decoration can be found not in tastes of some visitors, but for me it didn’t greatly matter. Overall, Filoxenia Hotel was reasonable, clean and friendly. |
