Brief History

Back in the old days the area was known under the name of Lochaber, and here laid the country of clan Cameron. The town Fort William developed as a settlement next to a fort constructed by Oliver Cromwell. The city was named after William of Orange, but in time it was known as Gordonsburgh and Duncansburgh before returning to the initial name of Fort William.
