The Ritz Four Seasons in Lisbon is a true gem. It really stands out.
The staff were not only highly professional but also warm and friendly. I would encourage anyone reading these reviews to ignore the comments that criticise the staff. Each individual I encountered proved to be an expert host, striking a perfect balance between familiarity and formality. They were willing to do anything to make their guests feel not only comfortable and relaxed, but also like guests in a world class hotel. Everything was done with maximum care and minimum interference, which I deeply appreciated.
I occupied a deluxe room on the eigth floor which had a view of the park. The room was alarmingly spacious by any standard (European or North American). The room was adorned with orchids and the furnishings looked freshly polished or upholstered. The carpet and drapes were new and nothing appeared worn.
The washroom was sleek-looking with amber coloured marble, had generous personal care ammenities of a very high quality, and was very spacious.
My only complaint (and I have had the same complaint with every Four Seasons Hotel I have had the pleasure to stay in) was the lighting. Every lamp in the room had 100 watt bulbs. It really is not pleasant to entertain (especially when you've only one or two guests) in that light. Lamps should be equipped with dimmers. But, I'm sure that had I mentioned it, someone from the concierge would have gone to a hardware store and bought some dimmers immediately. I don't doubt that for a second, in fact.
On that note, however, the window dressings were such that all light could be blocked out - perfect for a tired traveller. There was also a double door which ensured that no light (or noise) could creep into the sleeping space from the corridor.
The spa/swimming pool was chiq and luxurious and the attendants did an impeccable job of discreetly keeping everything "just so".
The hotel lobby is impressive as well. The tapestries on the walls were exquisite and there was quite a beautiful clock at one end. None of the furniture looked the least bit worn and I was treated to hearing a jazz trio perform while I sipped a rye and ginger in the lounge. The drinks were appropriately priced if you factor in the entertainment and the setting and heaps of complimentary cashews.
I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. I've "experienced" many fine hotels in one way or another (whether staying, dining, having a drink, or just stopping in to rest my feet in the lobby after a day of sightseeing.) I go to these hotels to satisfy an interest: I want to see what they're doing.
This is a very good hotel. The staff should be proud. They're doing "it" absolutely perfectly.

June 2004. The staff here is extrodinary. They called our entire family by first name each time we entered and exited. rooms are exceptionally large. The breakfasts are in a beautiful garden room. The pool/spa area is immaculate, modern escape from the hustle bustle of Lisbon. If we didn't have so much sightseeing I could have stayed at the pool all day. Snacks left daily in the room for our children. Lots of celebrities coming and going.

After spending a memorable journey at the Four Seasons in Prague (Czech Republic) years ago, we were excited to be hosted at the Four Seasons in Lisbon last February durung a weekend. Everything was perfect and worthy of a Luxury hotel. Reception and concierge staff were very courteous, friendly and thoughtful, our king size bed room were spacious with a large balcony overlooking Edouardo VII Park. Ideally located in the center of Lisbon, it took us a few minutes walk to reach art gallery, museum and the city's most famous places. When coming back to the hotel a late evening after a tiring day tour around the city, I found a birthday cake in our room! oh God! they had noticed it's was my birthday (probably from my passport when we checked in). We didn't have lunch or dinner in the hotel's restaurants, but have had room service one evening and the food was delicious! Well, what you need more from a hotel? I highly recommend the Four Seasons hotels wherever you'll stay, it's valuable and it's worth every buck you spend.

Quite simply the best in Lisbon. The service is exactly what you expect from Four Seasons but with a friendly manner that surprises. The breakfast is to order, the rooms of amazing size and the whole hotel exudes a feel of luxury and makes you feel special.

I stayed at the Ritz hotel in Lisbon in March 2004, and had a wonderful stay. We upgraded to a deluxe room on the 10th floor and the view was fantastic. You could see across the city to St Georges castle and the coast.
The main lobby is very grand with wall to wall of wonderful Tapestry's.
The continental buffet Breakfast was fantastic but if you prefer they are happy to make anything else that you want.
The hotel is situated about a 20min walk to the cantre, or a taxi cost aprox 5-6 euros.
The new Spa was well worth a visit, the tranqil atmosphere made a perfect place to relax, and have a more healthy dining option if you prefer. I had a tranquillity massage which lasted 50mins and was very good (cost aprox 80euros)
I found all the staff at the hotel very nice and helpful, infact they could not do enough for us.
The only thing I would say was like many hotels of this standard the drinks at the bar were very overpriced.
Overall a wonderful hotel with excellent service.

I found the service excellent (as usual) in this Four Seasons. Everyone was extremely polite and any concerns were immediately taken care of.
The hotel is 5-star in quality through-and-through and you pay for it.
But the health club on the roof is very well equiped and the basement swimming pool is too die for. Huge bathrooms too and the most comfortable beds in the world. The only downside is its location in the modern part of Lisbon which makes the tourist sites a taxi cab ride away.

The Ritz combines old-world class with the quality standards of Four Seasons. One of Europe's great hotels: decor, service, room, food, excellent new spa. Very good value.
