Grand Hotel, just a few yards from the sea, in the midst of an area of great natural beauty and in an environment laden with history, where everything seems to speak of a glorious past, enjoys a particulary happy locations: on the island of Ortigia, near to and, indeed, in direct contact with these reminders of former days.
A first-class hotel, completely restructured and modernized in 1995, to bring it back to the splendour of its golden period: the first fifteen years of the present century.
The hotel was famous for its evening dances, where the music of the orchestra alternated with that of the first phonographers. In the Liberty setting of the Hall of Flowers and Crystals, the local burghers and aristocrats would join the tourists staying in the hotel towatch screenings of the early films, and elegantly dressed ladies would gather to admire the fashion shows organized by the leading Italian and international couturiers. |
