Grand Majestic Gia Baglioni is a prestigious luxury hotel situated in the heart of Bologna offering its guests the atmosphere of a grand hotel with very modern amenity. It has been chosen as the formal hospitality headquarters for all delegations and dignitaries visiting the city. Ideal for leisure and business travelers alike, it is convenient to all points of interest and to Congress Hall and minutes from palaces, cathedrals, galleries and museums.

The hotel is a historical building, the Palazzo Ghisilardi Fava, which was converted into a hotel in 1911. Large in size, the lobby is in keeping with the majestic style of the rest of the hotel, with frescoed ceilings and porcellain and crystal manifactures elegantly palced around. The hotel offers modern meeting rooms and an indoor private parking.

** The pool will be closed between the 15th and 21st August 2010 for maintenance works.

OK, the nationwide blackout that occured here was while we were sleeping so didnt affect us too much except in the morning when we headed down in darkness to the breakfast room! Perhaps a hotel can best be judged by how they are under pressure and the staff were entirely charming and helpful. The "grand" rooms people speak of and that are on websites are actually far and few between as the lobby is relatively small. The hallways and bedrooms 'tho are lovely and I highly encourage people who can take advantage of a weekend rate to upgrade to a deluxe double and ask for a corner room. I had a massive beautiful high-ceilinged room with linen sheets and every amenity. While we didnt come across any haughty service, Im sure it exists and its best to just smile and ignore it as anywhere else but its very nice to come across a hotel where the prices are justified given the location (excellent), service (very good) and rooms (lovely).

We stayed in Bologna as part of our honeymoon in Italy. We didn't really expect that much from Bologna but it is now one of our favourite places in Italy. The food was great (as expected) but sitting out in the square watching a classical orchestra in the evening was fantastic. The hotel was great. The staff were incredibly helpful, the room was lovely and breakfast in the courtyard surrounded by frescos was very pleasant.

We spent one night at the Grand Hotel Baglioni in mid-Oct 2004. We found the staff to be extremely gracious, the front desk clerk even walked us to our room upon arrival. The room was quite lovely and beautifully appointed, just small by American standards. Breakfast was adequate but nothing to brag about considering how high the standards were everywhere else in the hotel. I'd have given it a five except for the breakfast.
