The Grand Terminus is a hotel that have luxurious facilities and services. The hotel was built in 1928. The same year, it was awarded the A C Houen's prize for good architecture. A preservation order has been proposed for the hotel relating to the law on cultural heritage. This order concerns the facade, the ground floor, lounges in the cellar, and the stairway.
The hotel is one of the oldest hotels in Norway, guests wanting a very modern hotel will be disappointed but those who like a bit of charm from their hotel will be pleasantly surprised. The actual reception area in the hotel is of a small size but adjoins a spacious sitting room housing several antique peices of furniture.
LOCATION
The Grand Terminus Hotel is located adjacent to Bergen's central railway station, while being relatively central this location is still about 10 minutes walk to the major shopping area of Bergen and waterfront area.

Good location, excellently managed
Located across street north of railway station (out side exit). We didn't notice any noise from station in 3rd floor front room.
Room was large with good size bath room. Comfortable room, lobby and lounge. Excellent buffet breakfast catering to wide variety of visitor tastes.
We stayed here twice coming and going to Hertigruten coastal voyage - taxi to ship and bus returning. Taxi was about USD 30, so might consider checking cost of Hertigruten transfer.
We walked to the old port area several times in about 10-15 minutes. Lots of restaurant selections in area between hotel and port.
Be sure to go up the old railway to top of mountain overlooking town.

Almost Grand
We had one night stopover at Grand Terminus Hotel while on a tour in Norway. Primarily we have chosen Grand Terminus Hotel due to its location, as Grand Terminus Hotel was perfectly convenient for us – just across the street from the train station.
As for the hotel itself, there were some refurbishment works going on, while our stay. But it did not disturb us at all. The place itself was clean and cozy enough for one stayover. The room was so spacious, clean, but definitely needed some refurbishment in paint, furniture and the general interior design, however in contrast the bathroom was very modern, all equipped and adequately sized.
As for the breakfast, we had a chance to receive an early breakfast, which was perhaps scarce, but absolutely fine for the hotel in this price range. The hotel personnel that we encountered with were all friendly but not particular welcoming.
I’m sure when the refurbishment works will be done, the Grand Terminus hotel would really be grand, and we would definitely give it a try next time.

A Classical !
This is a very beautiful hotel, central located next to train station but very quiet inside.
It´s really beautiful, for those who like classical design you´re gonna love it.
The rooms are big, clean and comfortable. The bathroom is big and clean too and has everything you need.
The breakfast is plentiful and excellent.
The staff is qualified.
And if you arrive there by car they have private parking.
