Athens accommodation!
My second stay was at Hermes Hotel, only two blocks away from Plaka Hotel. It's again right in the heart of all the action! It's a sister hotel and recommended to me when Plaka was booked!! It's very modern and chic with a designer feel to it - I particularly liked the marble bathroom! The spacious lobbey/bar area is very chilled and a nice way to meet fellow travellers and exchange tips - especially as I was travelling alone. The rooms are lovely as were the staff! Another great comfortable choice for anyone travelling Athens! Breakfast is good too - stock up for the day!

I just got back from Athens with two other friends and we stayed at the Hermes Hotel located in a quiet street in the Plaka area. Room was very nice and clean, with properly working air conditioner, cable TV and marble tiled bathroom. Only complaint was not enough hanging space for towels, and that half glass partition in the tub (instead of shower curtains and popular in European hotels) that make it difficult to shower without getting the entire bathroom floor wet. Breakfast, which was included in our room rate, was nothing special -- no fruits, unless you count those chunks in the jam. Overall, we were very satisfied with this hotel. Close to the Acropolis, the flea market, Syndagma Square and the Ermou shopping area. Walking distance to Omonia Square, Psirri and Monasteraki area. Lots of Greek tavernas and restaurants serving international cuisines. I would go back to this hotel if I ever visit Athens again.
