Been back a week, after an excellent short break (4 nights) 28 March - 1 April 2004 to Barcelona. The Gaudi is a comfortable, clean and friendly hotel, which for us was superbly situated towards the seafront end of the Las Ramblas, on the Nou De Las Ramblas. On reading previous reports I emailed the hotel to try and reserve a room on the 3rd floor, facing the the Palace Guelle with its wonderful rooftop. On arrival we did indeed have a 3rd floor, front facing room as requested. The room was small but adequate. There was however a good deal of noise during the early hours from drunks or whatever from the street outfront, but that comes from being in the city I suppose. The breakfast buffet sets you up well for the day ahead and the choice was superb. The reception staff were most helpful . Any request such as extra pillows etc were followed up quickly. They recommended places to eat and drink. One of the best we found was called Le Quinze Nits in the Placa Reial just over the Ramblas from the hotel. Be warned in the evening they begin queing at 7pm, and open at 8.30pm. The food and price is worth the wait (even in the rain!). We did the Tourist Bus, both red and blue routes on consequetive days, (20 euros) which we considered to be good value, although somethings do seem to be closed on Mondays - although this might be due to the season. Gaudis cathederal (La Sagrada Familia) was breathtaking, and to think they still have over 50 years work ahead of them - even with todays modern building techniques and siestas!. We climed up inside one of the spires - not for those who don't like heights or confined spaces! If you only visit one place I would recommend this. There is plenty to see and do in Barcelona and the Hotel Gaudi makes a fine base.

The hotel is in a great location, the staff are very friendly and helpful - told us of a great restaurant to visit. There was hardly any noise - O.K. the rooms are small but surely you don't visit Barcelona to sit in a hotel room! Would happily go back.

A group of us ( 7 ) went to Barcelona for a cultural weekend, and decided to stay at the Gaudi Hotel. We had 4 rooms ( 3 twins and a single ) and all were clean, warm, quiet (for Spain), and large enough. The hotel is in a fantastic location, just off the Ramblas, close to the marina end, near the Plaza Real ( which is stunning). The breakfasts were good, and the staff were lovely, extremely helpful and accommodating. They recommended restaurants, and made bookings for both restaurants and taxis.I will definitely return to Barcelona, and when I do I will definitely stay here again ?‚ although do ask for a room on the 3rd floor as the roof of the Palace Guell opposite is fantastic and well worth seeing.

Don't be put off by the narrow street....this is one great value hotel, with staff who really know what 'service' means........breakfast until 1100 hours (great if you don't stop until the early hours), checkout mid-day, unbeatable location.......just across Ramblas is Plac del Reia (with Gaudi lamps and fountain), the best location in town for a leisurely drink or six while watching the world go by.

We stayed at the Gaudi during the first week of August 2003 and found it to be extremely comfortable and very well located. We had a quad room, spotlessly clean and very large. The aircon was very efficient and welcome due to the heatwave, (high 30's). The small bar/restaurant serves good, plain food, reasonably priced. Drinks are reasonably priced also although the atmosphere in the bar is quite subdued, ok for us but if you want party time, try somewhere else ! Breakfast was very good and set us up well for the day ahead. Despite it's very central location(seconds from the Ramblas)the rooms were very quiet at night.
We found the staff to be very efficient and friendly. We would recommend it to anyone, especially those with young families

The Hotel is just off the Ramblas and ideally situated for sightseeing. The rooms are small, but adequately furnished. The third floor is the one to be on, as your room will give you a unique view of the fantastic roofline of the Palau Guell.
The staff are very friendly and the little snack bar will make you chips or coffee at any time.

We stayed at the Hotel Gaudi in February 2004.
The staff could not have been more helpfull or polite. The room we had was on the front of the hotel, and although it was a little noisey because the street are very narrow it did not cause a problem. The location is fantasitc. The breakfast were great with a variety of choices. We hope to return the Gaudi very soon.

We stayed at the Hotel Gaudi at the end of April 2004. The room was small but spotlessly clean and well furnished. We were at the back of the hotel so had no view at all but the room was quiet. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was plentiful and delicious and the little cafe bar was a relatively smoke free hideaway for a late night drink.. All in all a wonderful base to see a wonderful city.
