A lovely, friendly hotel that was perfect for us
We made a quick transfer to the Legie after having booked the Botel Rakek and finding it too dark and dirty to stay in. From the outside, the hotel looks horrible - very dingy and dirty - and the windowless reception area does nothing to dispel this idea. However, our room was faultless with a huge window giving lots of light and pleasant decor. The room was very clean and large and the beds were big and comfortable. The bathroom fixtures and fittings had seen better days but they worked well enough.
Breakfast was very good and in a buffet style and served almost everything you could want (except English breakfast tea which we could find nowhere in Prague). However, when we went (at the beginning of September 2011) the only meal served at the hotel was breakfast and the restaurant was closed the rest of the time.
The Legie is in a convenient location for seeing most of Prague's sights. The I.P. Pavlova Metro and tram stops were just across the road making getting around by public transport extremely easy and the 24-hour shop next door sells the tickets. That said, public transport wasn't strictly necessary for us as we found the hotel's central location meant that we could easily walk to the Old Town, Jewish Quarter and Lesser Town.
The only minor problems we had were the fact there are no tea and coffee making facilities and the noise of the traffic going past. The hotel is situated on a busy crossroads and cars seemed to be speeding past for most of the night, however, as we live in a very quiet rural area, this might not strike a lot of people as an inconvenience.
The receptionist at the hotel was extremely friendly and helpful. She spoke English very well and gladly helped us with any queries we had. She recommended restaurants, gave us directions to different places in the city and even organised a sightseeing boat trip with dinner included for us. The free city map she provided us with was an invaluable resource for us and we really couldn't fault the service at all.
Overall, the hotel was perfect for us - very clean and friendly with lovely rooms that you would not expect to find if judging by the exterior of the building. We would highly recommend it.

was booked to stay here for 5 nights due to tecnical fault we were moved round the corner to a lovely hotel thank god as it was terrible from the out side with winos and druggies hanging around the out side over head shelter i wouldnt have stayed the lobby was drab and dowdy.fair play we were looked after by the company.so it all worked out nicely.
