Great stay April 2008
Great hotel, great staff, large exceptionally clean room and tasty breakfast. What more is there to say. Hotel on quite side street not on noisy blvd.
Although location is advertised "Latin Quarters" I would say it is in more of the Monpanasse area than Latin Quarters. However knowing this earlier I may not have choosen this hotel, but after staying there I would difintly recommend it.

We were originally booked at Hotel St. Germain, apparently they overbooked and bumped us to Hotel Littre.... I have to say that was the best thing that ever happened to us. When we arrived at Hotel St. Germain, it was an eye sore. The hotel was located on the very busy street of St. Germain. It was an old hotel, it had an uninviting reception area, it was cramped with limited walking space, a complete chaos.
When we arrived on the doorsteps of Hotel Littre, which was only a 5 minute walk, I was very pleased. Very clean and somewhat newer. It was located on a residential side street off the bustling shopping street. We had a very warm reception from the staff which made our stay even more pleasant.
Our room was nicely decorated facing the garden area on the 5th floor so it was extremely quiet. It had perfect amenities and a beautiful bathroom.
Every morning we had a scrumptous breakfast in the quaint breakfast room with other hotel guests. We did not see very many Americans, but a mixture of different nationals. The hotel was not crowded with tourists, but had their share of a few business travelers. Something we didn't mind at all.
We were roughly 1? miles South of Place de la Concorde, which we didn't mind the walk. Our surrounding area had a mixture of shops, cafes and restaurants that were easily assessible during the day or evening. The Metro Montparnasse station was only 150 yds form our hotel which made it convenient. We would walk to nerby sights and sometimes catch the bus midway between during the day and took the taxi back in the evening.
The hotel had a large public bar that we did not frequent due to our long days of sightseeing, but we never saw many people in the bar.
I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who doesn't mind being in the Montparnasse area, some may think it's a little far away from the sights, but with such easy tranportation options it's worth it. We had a great experience with the staff during our stay that we will definitely choose Hotel Littre on our next trip to Paris.
Don't forget to try the Chocolat Banan crepes they have around the corner by the Metro Montparnasse, they're to die for!!!

My husband and I stayed at the Hotel Littr? Feb. 13-19, 2004. We were very satisfied. We arrived at 10:00 in the morning; they didn't have our standard room ready, but we opted to pay a little extra and upgrade to a deluxe room (Room 411). We were really glad we did. The room was large, even by American standards, with a king-size bed (actually two singles pushed together, but it worked just fine), a sitting area with couch, chair, coffee table, and TV, and a fully equipped, perfectly satisfactory bathroom. (There was a tub with a shower curtain that drew across the whole length, and the hand-held shower was wall-mounted. The sink area was marble, with ample counter space. Bathrobes hung on the back of the door.) There was no dresser, but there was a large hanging closet with several shelves for laying clothes in. The closet also had an in-room safe.We thought the room got rather warm and stuffy during the day, so we enjoyed throwing the large windows open when we got home from the day's sightseeing. Unfortunately these windows only looked out on a plain inner courtyard and other wings of the hotel--no view to speak of, but this did help keep the noise down. (Didn't have any problems AT ALL with noise.)The staff was very helpful, even to suggesting a last-minute restaurant (and securing a reservation) on Valentine's Day when our original plan fell through. We enjoyed the restaurant very much!If you want or need to use the internet during your stay, they have a public use computer (very old and slow, but functional). You pay 7 Euros and have access to the computer for your entire stay. This small fee was well worth it to us when we needed to look something up urgently. It is optional, of course. The hotel breakfast is huge, with breads, cheeses, cold cuts, jams, fruit, eggs, bacon, sausage and more. Breakfast was included with the package we had booked; I do not know how much it would be if purchased separately. If we hadn't already paid for it, I may have opted to breakfast elsewhere a few other mornings, just for variety. (Their spread was always the same.)The location is great--two convenient metro stops (Montparnasse and St-Placide) are just a couple minutes away, there's a corner grocery down the street, and you're right in the heart of the left bank with shopping, restaurants, and places to see.All in all, the hotel was just what we were looking for and hoping for--nice, clean, friendly, with the basic amenities, but still affordable and with loads of Parisian charm! I heartily recommend it.

Paris was wonderful and Hotel Littre made our stay extraordinary! Our deluxe room was spacious, clean, had a sitting area, small balcony, and grand french doors. The only minor problem was the bathroom in which you take a shower- because the glass pane is so small, the whole bathroom gets wet- but the tub is great for soaking in after walking around Paris all day! The subway (Metro) was nearby and it's quite fast and easy taking the train everywhere - as the cab rides can cost you quite a bit! Our hotel was very comfortable, and the staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful! We especially want to commend Sabrina at the front desk who went out of her way to assist us in anything from arranging boat cruises, to which nightclubs to go to (Le Duplex and L'Etoile), and to recommending an amazing french restaurant- C'est le mon plaisir- definetly worth checking out! Sabrina is definetly one of the reasons we will go back and stay at Hotel Littre!
Also, every morning we made it a point to wake up for the hotel buffet breakfast which was delicious - make sure you try their jams and cheeses! And don't forget to go to Monoprix and stock up on french wines!

Paris was fabulous. The Hotel Littre was wonderful. It is in a great location near the Montparnasse Metro stop and train station. The tour I went on was arranged by Art du Voyage which is here in L.A. They really did a nice job and pretty much everything was fabulous. They arranged for great guides of the Louvre, Picasso Museum, d'Orsay, and Versailles. The Parisians were lovely and welcoming. The food was great, especially the macaroons at Cafe Ladure (spelling?). These are not cocunut ones, but ones made of almonds and then with flavors added. My favorites were the pistachio ones. There are 2 or 3 locations, but the one I went to was about a mile from the hotel (20 minutes if you walk briskly, from the hotel) and close to St. Germain du Pres. I can't wait to go back, but I will go when it is not so cold! The only thing I could not recommend was the tour of the sewers, it was just not that great, there is no guide, which I think is what makes a similar tour in Seattle so great.

Great comfort but above all we were impressed with the staff who could not do more to be helpful. They were without exception friendly, professional and very ayttentive. We will certainly return

My husband and I stayed at the Grand Hotel Littre on our honeymoon in 1999. The hotel was under renovations at the time, and we were dissapointed to learn that we had been bumped from our original booking of a superior suite - - but not for long. We were upgraded to an "apartment," a spacious suite including a king sized bed, a gorgeous bathroom and a little sitting room where we could eat our breakfast if we didn't feel like going downstairs. The hotel was comfortable, the staff was attentive and friendly, and the breakfast was delicious. We would stay there again!

Overall, had a very good experience at the Littre. The staff was very helpful and the rooms were clean and quite comfortable. One night our AC stopped, but we told the front desk and it was working the next day.
Also good location - with the option of walking (30 minutes) to most major attractions, or using the Montparnasse subway station which is only 1 block away.
I recommend the Hotel Littre, and would definately return.

My family stayed at this hotel in last week of July, my wife and my two teenage sons. The hotel staff are very accomodating. Breakfasts are good and the rooms are very clean and spacious.
The location is difficult to beat with good communication links to the centre of Paris via bus or Metro.
Do go to the top of the Monparnasse Tower at night, which gives the best view of Paris.
Excellent restaurants in the area especially for fish. Try La Criee on Monparnasse boulevard, a very good fish restaurant.

Not disappointed at all after choosing Hotel Littre based on recommendations here. The staff is exceptional ... always friendly, always patient and helpful. We asked to use a corkscrew for a bottle we had bought down the street, they took the bottle and next thing we knew, they had brought the open bottle to our room in an ice bucket with ice, wine glasses and a small dish of potato chips. Our room, complete with slippers and robes, was ready for us even when we arrived before nine a.m.
on Saturday morning, May 22, 2004 ... our 34th anniversary. Room and bath were very nice. Would definitely love to return to Hotel Littre.
