Unbeatable location
I had a 3 nights stay at Regente hotel. The location of the hotel is fabulous - in the center of Madrid close to the Puerta del Sol and Plaza Mayor and just 10 minutes from the Royal Palace, bus stops and train station are all near by. The reception staff was not friendly in particular but helpful. I was given a room facing the back, so I never was bothered with any kind of noise. Besides, the room was clean and comfortable enough. Overall, the service and quality at Regente hotel was mediocre, but the location was certainly unbeatable.

GREAT LOCATION
Great location right on the Grand via, excellent value for money. Breakfast good and rooms of a pleasing standard. Thoroughly recommended.

Good location
Just returned from Madrid after 4 nights at the Regente. Our room was a corner room that resembled a closet. The smallest room I have ever stayed in. It was on the fourth floor but the view from the window was another wall hence no day light. A bit depressing. However the staff were the friendliest people we encountered in Madrid. It was very clean and in a great location. Surrounded by shops of all descriptions. Not quite so near the nightlife however. Tip, turn right when you come out of hotel. Brilliant shopping street which we only discovered on the last day. Scafolding surrounding the building at the moment. Would probably stay there again if I ever visit Madrid again but would arrange a decent size room. Another tip beware of bullfights unless you want nightmares for weeks.

This is a great hotel, a great value, and a great location. The staff is very friendly and extremely helpful. The room was quite small, but very clean and comfortable. I did not like their breakfast which was quite expensive. However, I did enjoy their croissants and pastries. The location was superb...close to everything...ideal starting point. I would definitely stay at this hotel again and highly recommend it.

Landed with my girlfriend at Madrid airport without a clue where to stay and were recommended the Hotel Regente by airport information.
When we arrived the staff were friendly and polite. The room was very modern, clean and had a great view down the Gran Via. For the price we paid it felt like an excellent deal. Staff were also very helpful organising taxis and holding our baggage during the afternoon before our late connection. We would stay again.

The Regente is an unpretentious, down-to-earth hotel in the best Spanish tradition of simplicity and understatement (combined with cleanliness, the God of the Spaniards).
Rooms are large and well, if simply, equipped.
Staff are very helpful and friendly and will assist with any queries or demands.
This is not a luxury hotel by any means, but its central location, friendly staff, and excellent prices mean I stay here every time I visit Madrid for professional purposes (at least half a dozen times a year).
Highly recommended if you're looking for an affordable pad in central Madrid. NOT for fussy Yanks who want room service and an en-suite whirlpool bath.
ps: beware the central heating in winter; rooms become ovens! If you turn off the radiator in your room make sure you leave a note for your maid asking her not to turn it back on, or you'll get back from freezing outside to roasting inside!
