Hotel Sacher Salzburg has been the very center of the city's social life since 1866 and has hosted members of reigning houses, aristocrats, scientists, poets, actors, and artists. Refined accommodations, inviting restaurants, and an elegant hotel bar all help to create the unique character of the hotel.
Hotel Sacher Salzburg was built by Carl Freiherr von Schwarz - is situated in the heart of Salzburg. In a town, that unites so tastefully architecture, music and culture, the hotel was even then, because of its situation on the quiet Salzach promenade, the center of attraction for guests from all over the world. The hotel has made history over the years, the which the well-kept guestbooks bear witness. A new area began 1988 with the Guertler family, the owner of the well known Hotel Sacher in Vienna. To preserve the atmosphere and uniqueness, renovations and expansion work was carried out so that the hotel presents itself as a meeting point in the heart of Salzburg.

A friend and I stayed at the Sacher Hotel in early May and it was a wonderful experience. The hotel is beautiful, in an excellent location and the staff helpful and friendly. The dining experience there in the hotel was equally wonderful. Not inexpensive but worth it for a onetime experience. The breakfast buffet was also outstanding and included in the price of the room They also recommended a fabulous restaurant in the old town that was great food and atmosphere and less expensive. I would love to stay there again . If you can take a train from Milan to Innsbruck and then to Salzburg, it is a plethora of scenery you will never forget. Also try the Blau Gans(Blue Goose) for lunch. Eat outside in good weather. Fun

I stayed at the Sacher Salzburg over Christmas week 2003. It was simply charming. The location, room, staff, restaurants, and Christmas cheer combined for a truly wonderful time. The Staff especially were friendly and helpful in terms of reserving tickets for orchestral performances, restaurant reservations and a stunning tour of the Lakes region. Some things in life are sure bets: the Sacher Torte really is THAT good; the staff really are wonderful; Salzburg in winter during Xmas really is a storybook postercard. Trust me: stay here and have a lovely time. What else could you ask for?

Hotel Sacher, Salzburg is a definate must do!You know you're in a proper hotel when, without even stating who you are, you are greeted by name at reception. It makes a warmly accepted change to have such a high interest taken in your arrival in comparison to the often standard, british hospitality. The rooms are exceptionally comfortable and what I can only describe as a 'cut above the rest'. Large amounts of room and a bathroom containing just about every appliance possible! Fantastic views of Salzburgs' scenery was great to wake up to.Although not visited, it did have a small health club and gift shop. The hotel restaraunt was a dream. Accompanied by fine champayne, a pianist, impeccable service and great company, it makes for a truly memorable occasion.Alongside the main restaraunt the hotel also offers a Cafe serving tradtional Austrian cakes, as well as a Grille restaraunt. This offered a simpler choice of food but still did not fail to impress. We asked for a meal that was not listed on the menu. Within minutes it was in front of us.Nothing is too much for the staff at this hotel. Whether a receptionist, consierge, a bartender or waitress, your wish was their command. You're every want and need is met instantly without question.Have to try the Paprika butter that is served with their bread. Wow! So good that we had to indulge during our champayne breakfast each morning!Being in the Austrain Alps I would strongly suggest taking a trip up the mountains for the day and crossing into Bevaria. The sights are breathtaking and if you can squeeze a few Sound of Music sights in beforehand then it makes for a superb day out....especially if it's cheaffuer driven. What a place! What a birthday! Must come back!

We stayed at the Hotel Sacher around New Years and were delighted by the decorations, accomodations and location. It is located right across the river from the Old City, and everything was very convenient to it.
The rooms were nice and the view (of the old city and river) were breathtaking. The breakfast was incredible...we were very happy with it (along with the chocolates left in our room!). We would definitely recommend it to anyone.

Stayed at the Sacher in November 2003. We were lucky to be given a corner room (as mentioned by a previous reviewer) which was both huge and decorated beautifully (Chandliers, 3-peice suite, desk, table and chairs etc etc). Staff were extremely helpful and polite. You get the impression that every guest is treated very well here. Ask them to arrange tickets for you for one of the Mozart concerts. We did and got the best seats in the house. Location and view cannot be beaten - right on the river, just a stone's throw from the heart of Salzburg. We will return to Salzburg, and will not even think twice about staying anywhere else. Its also fairly reasonably priced if you opt for a weekend package. Even if it wasn't, its worth paying extra to stay here. There's even champagne at the breakfast buffet. Fantastic.

I have stayed at the Hotel Sacher twice in the last few months and would probably not stay anywhere else in Salzburg. The hotel is in an excellent location, right on the banks of the river. Almost everything is just a short walk from the hotel. The hotel's restuarants are very good and the service overall is outstanding. The rooms vary in size. On one stay I had an average size room, on the second stay I had a very large room. Ask for a room on one of the building corners. They are larger rooms. Yes, you may pay more to stay at the Sacher than other Salzburg hotels, but you get what you pay for.

We selected the Hotel Sacher for the location. It is directly across the river from the old city and within easy walking distance of all the key areas. It is a grand old hotel featuring beautifully redecorated rooms. The rooms are small but very inviting. They are air-conditioned - a rare find in Austria. The turn down service comes with a small piece of their famous sacher torte. We dined on the terrace of their casual grill restaurant. It is very well priced and the location is perfect. They offer free internet service for hotel guests. Although not as grand as the Sacher Hotel in Vienna, it is a beautiful spot.

We were treated like valued guests, not just a "pay-day" and/or nuisances as in some hotels. The staff were obliging without being too "in your face". The food was good, the rooms were comfortable, the location is unbeatable. All in all a wonderful experience - if we visit Salzburg again we will not need to bother looking for hotels - we know exactly where we'll be staying. As a bonus the price, bearing in mind that Austrian hotels can be expensive, was pleasantly reasonable.

My perfect hotel ! Only stayed one night but had a lovely room with a balcony overlooking the river. The room was a generous size and was equipped with every necessity - especially loved the slippers ! All the staff were attentive and friendly. We had the delicious Sacher Torte in the cafe and ate in the Grill bar in the evening, all the food was first class.
Will definately be going back...
