I had a wonderful time a this hotel. It is first class for a boutique hotel. The pictures do not do it justice.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here . . . low key luxury, all the special touches, very attentive and friendly staff, room service breakfast that arrives practically as you hang up the phone, a few minutes walk from the major museums, at a price a good deal more reasonable than the larger 5-star establishments. Flowers and wine from the management on the second day added to the feeling that guests are highly valued and cared for.

Great Location!!! We went to Madrid to see our daughter that is going to school in Alcala. Found the Villa Real on line and appreciated the reviews I had read so decided to make sure and give my input too upon our return. We went over the Easter spring break (April 3-10). This is Holy week in Spain. Lots of processions in the streets. Ended up seeing some of them right from our balcony in the street below our hotel. Amazing! Also this is definitely a "top notch" hotel. The rooms are extremely clean. Mahogany woodwork throughout, marbel floor/tiles in bathroom, comfortable beds, leather couch in sitting area, complimentary wine, slippers and robe, turn down for beds each night. The location can't be beat, within walking distance to many attractions and plazas. Just blocks from the Prado and Thyssen musuems, close to Retiro park (beautiful), close to Atoche train station (a must if going to other towns for the day/days). Always felt safe and enjoyed the night life. Everyone comes alive at about 8:00 pm and goes to the plazas to eat, shop, and see the sights. The Hotel will get you a taxi (if needed) within minutes. All staff are very accomodating and take great care of you. The bar was nice, the restaurant fabulous (not even that expensive). All in all a terrific place to stay and will definitely recommend to anyone thinking of heading to Madrid. Can't be beat!!! Great Prices too. Miss it already.

The hotel is an absolute gem. Wonderful rooms, a bottle of wine has always been waiting upon arrival. The staff at the front desk is helpful and actually happy to see you upon your return. They sent us to three fabulous restaurants, La Finca de Susana, Gloria Monterra, and another right behind the hotel. We have stayed at the Hotel Villa Real at least four timesat wonderful rates (call the hotel directly and ask for specials or go to their own web site. The staff treated our college kids with respect and gave them ideas appropriate for their age and affordable. Five star hotel with five starpersonnel. The location is absolutely the best in Madrid. The Prado and the Thyssen are less than a minute away!

Well as a thrifty traveler, I am always looking for a deal and what a deal I found with Villa Real Hotel! My boyfriend and I were ecstatic with the hotels feel, service and amenities and location. We were give the corner room on the second floor which was absolutely amazing- two sets of French doors which opened up to the parliament and a beautiful little park/square area in the front of the hotel. After a day of sight seeing, we would open up the doors, pull our chairs close to the balconies sip our Spanish Wine gaze a people walking down the streets. It's a great location near the Retiro Park, few blocks away to the Atocha Train station, museums, and nightlife. The staff is wonderful, they helped me to pack the paintings I purchase from a Art Fare, made reservations for us for dinner, guided us with train schedules. As for the room - it had built in his/her mahogany closets-no fighting for closet spaceBathroom- all marble, very clean, cozy bathrobes, slippers and luxurious soaps, shampoos and other toiletries.Although I have not stayed at any other hotels in Madrid, I did walk through a few and for the price and service I think Villa Real was a great deal! Enjoy!!! My boyfriend and I will definitely stay there again.

Mid size boutique hotel in an upscale area. The beds were heavenly! Rooms were a little on the smallish side, but attractively done with warm wood colors.

The Villa Real is centrally located in Madrid. All the major plazas, shopping and dining were within a short walk. The service at the hotel was excellent, as were both restaurants. Madrid is one of the cleaner cities I have visited as well as beautiful.

We managed to get a room boked for 2 nights at a fantastic price off the web. The rooms were pretty good, and the separate lounge area was a good touch. The bathroom was on the small side - it was virtually impossible to make use of the second sink!!
Excellent staff though, and one of the best locations in Madrid.
Overall, well worth it at internet-booked prices, but be wary if paying rack-rate!

This boutique hotel is ridiculously well located--next to the parliament building, within a block of both the Prado and the Thyssen and in one of madrid's prettiest neighborhoods with the busier tourist areas well within walking distance. The rooms are clean and well-decorated with the appealing split-level design. The staff was helpful and not the least bit pretentious and the restaraunts were good. Would absolutely stay here again.

wonderful location, 2 minutes from 3 museums, terrific staff, every luxury. we asked for a quiet room, got one facing the back, but light and split-level, very very comfortable. lots of little extras that one really appreciates, as others have noted. wonderful mosaics (sister hotel in barcelona, claris, has egyptian art, also terrific place), staff couldn't be more helpful, free internet use in lobby (as at claris). would return in a second. high praise! no gym was only problem.
