Good Centrally Located Hotel.
We are just back from our third visit to Nice I am happy to say that the Ibis "15 minute Satisfaction" option did not have to be invoked on our arrival at the above hotel. The number plates at the room doors would suggest that this was formerly the Alexandra Hotel so maybe this name change is why there are so few reviews on Tripadvisor. The location is very central and any tourist sites in the city can be reached on foot. The hotel is a 5 minute walk from the railway station from where the # 99 Airport bus departs and a 10-15 minute stroll to the beach. We had one room at the rear and one room at the front and both were exceptionally quiet. My room was right beside the not-so-modern lift so a little noise would be expected but this was not the case. The en-suite was miniscule to say the least but the room was so comfortable otherwise. The hotel is very well maintained throughout. As with any hotel, ones expectations will determine the overall satisfaction with the accommodation and in this case we expected standard Ibis levels and this is exactly what we got i.e. good, clean, comfortable rooms at a reasonable rate. Continental breakfast was included in the price and was more than adequate. Reception staff were so friendly and helpful as were the other hotel employees except for one of the breakfast waitresses who was so surly and rude. Maybe we got her on a bad day. Her unhelpful attitude was made all the more obvious by the other waitress who, despite having practically no english, made us feel so welcome. This hotel is no Negresco and it does not pretend to be. You get what you pay for and it ticked all the right boxes for us. I had stayed in the Mercure Grimaldi-part of the same group-on a previous visit but would probably stick with the Ibis Notre Dame for our next trip. For value, location and comfort you won't go too far wrong.
