I stayed at this hotel at the start of August 2004 for a weekend. The hotel is located on a main road into the city centre, so access to all the main tourist attractions is easy- its about a 10 minute walk to the heart of the city. The rooms are a decent size, all the normal things you would expect from a room, comfy beds, good bath and shower facilities. My only gripe would be that the rooms were a little to hot. Then again, I was in York on one of the hottest weekends in a long time. The staff are always willing to help, and the service- which I experienced at breakfast, is polite and professional. Finally, I have to thank the young-ish night porter of the hotel, who was unlucky enough to see me come back into the hotel at some ungodly hour of the morning twice in a row. I was slightly the worse for wear and looking somewhat dishevelled after a few nights out experiencing Yorks pubs. The banter between me and the porter made me smile a lot, he gave customer service over and above the call of duty. I didnt get his name, but thank you, whoever you were. A good hotel, professional staff, would I stay there again...definitely
