We stayed here in June. We requested a room for 3 people. When we arrived we had a very nice room with what was suppose to be a sofa bed. However the bed had no where to fold out because the TV was in the way. When we told them our problem they said it was broken and they gave us an extra bed in our room which would have been fine except the air conditioning froze our child at night. After much arguing and threatening to move next door to the Hassler they took the sofa bed (which by the way wasn't broken we checked) out and put the extra bed in it's place. Other then that our stay was wonderful and the view from our balcony was breathtaking.

The Intercontinental De La Ville was a great place to relax after a hot summer day exploring Rome. The hotel rooms were spotless, nicely decorated and contained every convenience. The hotel offered pay per view movies in English, which was a hit with the kids. The staff was very polite, friendly and attentive. Even our 15 year old son had no problem asking the concierge for assistance. Breakfast on the terrace each morning was especially nice. It was relaxing because the courtyard terrace was sheltered from the noises of the streets. The most important aspect of the hotel was how convenient it was to most of the attractions of Rome. It was within walking distance of many of them. It was also close to many fine restaurants and shops.

Stayed here in April 2004. At 349 euro per room per night, one has to be severe so it's fair to say the size of the room was not up to the price. It was clean and nicely decorated but the en-suite bathroom was fitted out rather cheaply for the hotel category and there were none of the special touches you'd expect. That said, there were some good points. Best was the barman- a real character! We had a nightcap in the bar every night and couldn't understand why hardly anyone else ever did. Drinks just a bit ex pensive but not too bad for the hotel category- just avoid single malt whiskies. We unwittingly paid 25 euro for a glass of Lagavulin- outrageous!- the whole bottle wouldn't be 50 euro, even in Italy! The concierge was wonderfully helpful- we gave him a couple of restaurant names every morning and by the time we returned each evening we'd have a booking. He was also great at arranging bus tours and advance bookings for attractions that require them. Location was great and safe with lots of restaurants in the area. So over all, very enjoyable hotel, with friendly staff, if you're happy to pay the price!

Just returned from two stays at the de la Ville. Nothing but positive things to say. Old-fashioned services delivered with great personal attention in an extremely comfortable setting. Sheets changed every day. Recommend sixth floor front rooms with terrace views over Rome and the Spanish Steps or, if absolute quiet preferred, then the rooms facing the interior courtyard and back garden. Splendid breakfast in large airy dining room or outside in courtyard well worth it. Many staff have worked there for years and demonstrate their loyalty to the hotel through their attentiveness.

I booked this room through gtahotels for our last night in Rome over the holidays. I chose the Intercontinental because I trusted their brand. I was disappointed. The hotel offers nothing out of the ordinary. The rooms were very small, even for Europe and especially for the price.
There was no view and no amenenties. The staff was very arrogant and treated me and my teen-aged son like we were interloping backpackers.
The concierge wrote down the street name for our restaurant but not the address and so we and the cab driver had to drive up and down looking for it (a fabulous vietnamese restaurant - probably the only one in Rome - we were tired of pasta). This was after fantastic experiences at the Hilton Calvalieri in Rome and the Hilton Sorrento (on frequent guest points -- we were treated like royalty). I will think twice about staying at an Intercontinental again. In general, they seem like they are on the decline and don't offer anything special.

Difficult not to give this hotel the top rating: terrific location, helpful staff, nice room (though small - it is Rome), etc. But is it worth a few hundred more a night than other comparable hotels? I don't think so. And what happened to the rooftop terrace bar? They've got a nice one with a great view, but it was locked up during our stay with no signs of opening soon.

Not a spectacular hotel, but a very good one; room and bath very clean and comfortable. Great location 200 feet from the top of the Spanish Steps; right next door to the Hassler. Breakfast in the morning was good. Staff very good. Provided me a computer to check e-mail, etc. I'm staying there again.
