* Suave design is a key feature of the common areas, including the Tarsila restaurant, serving international, Brazilian and Japanese cuisine—including a Japanese breakfast. A nice lounge area also offers drinks in an elegant atmosphere.
* The medium-sized pool is nicely landscaped, and the adjoining Bar Aquarela serves light fare during high season. The pool area, strategically placed to receive sun all day, is surrounded by plants. The independently operated City Athletic Club is a boon for active guests. It offers hair styling, sauna, massages, and a small but adequate amount of gym equipment in a comfortable atmosphere.
* The events space allows 500 people to meet in 10 rooms of various sizes. The largest room, Di Cavalcanti, has seating for 300. Each conference room is fully equipped with high-speed Internet access and presentation equipment for various media. Contrasting to the sterile conference centers in many of the hotels, and to the InterContinental's credit, the meeting rooms here are tastefully decorated, inviting and comfortable. Like the entrance to the building, inside there is only one way to reach the events area, a feature that appeals to organizers who are concerned about security.
