This new, sleek, luxurious hotel on Monterey's legendary Cannery Row is now the closest lodging to the world-renowned Monterey Bay Aquarium. It is an easy walk to all the Row's sights and restaurants of interest, and is adjacent to Doc's weather-beaten lab made famous in Steinbeck's novel. And it might very well be the last new construction here for some time thanks to strict new zoning limits.
The hotel consists of two four-story buildings attached by an enclosed overpass over Cannery Row. Its architecture features multipaned windows and resembles canneries from the past. A central courtyard provides outdoor lounging and two fire pits, and the property has extraordinary views of the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary. |

The kitchen's talented young executive chef, Jerry Regester, makes use of the area's best ingredients for his California-style menus and serves only sustainable seafood. The bar stays open until 11 pm, and until midnight Thursday through Saturday.
* A fitness center, hot tub, and long, narrow lap pool are situated in the back building, away from the bay, where the full-service spa and children's center for ages 4 through 13 also are located. A closet-size gift shop operates off the lobby.
* More than 15,000 sq ft of indoor and outdoor meeting space includes the Pacific Ballroom, which holds 50 to 425 people and has a view of the bay); the 3,500-sq-ft bay-front Pacific View Courtyard; and nine break-out rooms, which hold 10 to 50 people each. |

* Many rooms have flip-on gas fireplaces and faux one-foot balconies that permit sliding doors to open to the sea air.
