An exciting boutique resort located on Tioman Island..
Japamala Resort is an exciting new boutique resort located on Tioman Island, Malaysia. Created in harmony with its natural surroundings, Japamala Resort Tioman balances like a sacred jewel between ancient rainforest and emerald sea, radiating a calmness that touches all who visit her shores.

Characterised by a striking blend of exotic Malay, Chinese, Indian, Balinese, Thai and Vietnamese flair, Japamala strives to accentuate the exuberance of Asian cultures and celebrate the earthy, simple yet vitally creative Asian way of life. Japamala Resort aspires to evoke your inner senses by leading you on a unique journey of Asian experience.

Private, secluded... this tropical paradise lies hidden among 11 acres of natural beauty. Within its grounds you will find a cluster of well-appointed villas and chalets offering commanding views of the South China Sea and surrounding jungle.
LOCATION

Japamala Resort is located on Tioman Island, off the east cost of Malaysia.
Perfect destination for nature lovers and peace seekers, the lovely set up of the resort gives ample scope to rediscover the treasures of life. Lying in between the rainforest and the sea, this little paradise of Tioman Island refresh and revivify your spirit, body and mind.

However, it is little bit tough for the travelers to access the location of the resort. But despite of this difficulty, you can access the lovely position of the resort not only from Kuala Lumpur but from Singapore also. There is direct speedboats facility too from Mersing and it will take around 1 hour of fantastic journey.

Tioman is a relatively undeveloped island - getting around is done mostly by trekking or by sea taxi. Japamala Resort has its own boat which is available for hire on an hourly or per day basis. There is a rough road between Tekek and Juara - on the East side of the Island - local operators will drive you there for approx RM35 one way.

Tioman is blessed with an an idyllic archipelago of marine habitats. It is also the gateway for many migratory sea mammals like Manta Rays, Whale Sharks and even Killer Whales. There has been sightings of Manta Rays passing through the resort front as the monsoon closes in but dolphins have been sighted rather frequently from the resort's pier heading south. Frequent sightings of dolphins also at Coral Island, a popular snorkeling spot 45 minutes from the resort. Whale Sharks were also seen this year (2007) at a spectacular dive site called Tulai by scuba divers.

The resort's surrounding hillsides are brilliant hues of lustrous greens where it is home to many species of birds, small mammals and reptiles. The plumage of the birds is iridescent, the drone of the insect life is a steady monotone and the occasional chatter of the macaques all compose one cacophony of song and music to your ears.

Many non-venomous snakes like the Reticulated Python, and the very docile Oriental Whip Snake, Paradise Tree Snake and the Bronze-back have all been sighted around the resort. Tioman is known for Monitor Lizards, some as big as a crocodile! You may spot an occasional hatchling or juvenile swimmer in the ponds.
