One of the great advantages of the Killarney Towers Hotel is that when you step out the door, you are in the heart of downtown Killarney, which is ideal for a trip to the lovely local stores. And, after a night on the town, there is no long walk back to the hotel or no need to call a cab.
The rooms are comfortable and include satellite TV and video facilities. There's a leisure center where guests can enjoy a strenuous workout followed by a dip in the pool, or a session in the sauna. The bar is always buzzing, with live music most nights.
In the morning the restaurant offers full Irish breakfast with an extensive buffet so that you may choose what you like. In the evening a carvery offers a wide selection of delicious roasts and vegetables as well as table service.
Scruffy's Bar This is one of the most popular venues in downtown Killarney offering live music most evenings. A great place to enjoy a pre-dinner drink or some fun in the evenings. |
| LOCATION |
|
The modern Killarney Towers Hotel is located in the center of Killarney. The southwest region or Ireland has drawn visitors from all over the world since the mid 18th century. Its majestic scenery and beauty is second to none and the warmth for the Gulf Stream encourages a profusion of unusual wild flowers and plants. Sporting enthusiasts can enjoy a full range of activities, and for those who wish to exercise their taste buds, what could be better than a visit to the gourmet region of Ireland.
At Muckross Traditional Farms you are invited to take a stroll down memory lane, to a time before the advent of electricity when all work was carried out using traditional methods. You will visit three separate working farms (small, medium and large), each complete with animals, poultry and traditional farm machinery.
You will also visit a Labourer's Cottage, a Carpenter's Workshop and a Blacksmith's Forge. Meet and chat with the farmers and their wives as they go about their daily work in the houses, on the land, and with the animals.
At almost every turn, you'll see Killarney's own botanical wonder, the arbutus, or strawberry tree, plus eucalyptus, redwoods, and native oak.
The park holds three lakes. The first, the Lower Lake, is sometimes called "Lough Leane" or "Lough Lein," which means "the lake of learning." It's the largest, more than 6.5km (4 miles) long, and is dotted with 30 small islands. The second lake is aptly called the "Middle Lake" or "Muckross Lake," while the third (and smallest) is simply "Upper Lake." The most noteworthy of Killarney's islands, Innisfallen, seems to float peacefully in the Lower Lake. |
